Product Overview

The AMDRO Fire Ant Bait kills the queen fast and destroys the fire ant mound. Once you distribute a circle of bait around the mound, it’s only a matter of time before the worker fire ants share it with the queen. After the queen eats it and dies, her colony dies with her. The granules are designed for individual mound treatment but can also be used for broadcast application in outdoor areas.

  • Kills the queen fast
  • Can be used to destroy individual mounds
  • Destroys visible and hidden mounds
  • For outdoor use
  • Ready-to-use, does not require mixing

Answer:
Yes. Be sure not to apply any other product other than the Amdro. The worker ants are needed to carry the bait to the nest in order to kill the queen. All ants esentially feed the same way so it works on a varitey of ants. The bait should be sprinkled when the ants are actively feeding. Re apply if bait gets wet. Ants will not take the wet bait.

Dogs are great if you have the time and place for them! OH, regarding Amdro? read the package- but my recommendation would be to sprinkle when the dogs aren't around for a little while. It doesn't attract animals and loses it effectiveness in about 24 hours. How small is your space- that is probably the key, my dogs have acres to explore and the amdro does not enter their radar.

Hello,
Amdro Fire Ant Bait isn't very toxic to dogs when it is applied according to the label. We do recommend you keep your dogs indoors while you apply the product. After that you can let them back into the application area.

The directions say that this product can be used "on grounds surrounding poultry houses (excluding runs and ranges).." It also says to "Avoid direct exposure of animals to AMDRO granules." My guess is that if you intend to eat the chickens or their eggs, or sell them for food do not use this product if the chickens can possibly eat the granules.

Answer:
HI skilet,
Amdro should not be ingested by chickens. Do not use Amdro where animals graze. Keep pets and animals away from the treated area for 24 hours.
The oil that is used as the bait will attract ants as well as other animals such as mice and pets.
Avoid using this produce where the chickens feed.

Hello,
Amdro Fire Ant Bait is approved for use in parks. We would suggest you apply the bait in the early morning or early evening hours. You should also keep children out of the area as you are applying the granules on a non-windy day.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good ant chow The fire ants seem to really like this stuff. I sprinkle it around the mound (don't have to water it in) and a day or so later the mound is dead. Has not failed to work. October 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simply works. I have used Amdro for many years, simple to use and it works well. I just don't want fire ants nesting near walkways, doors, porches, etc. I don't want to kill ALL types of ants in my yard, mainly fire ants. October 4, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Feed them today! They're gone tomorrow! Always feed my fire ants. I wine and dine them with Amdro. It's over after the party's over! September 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Consistently works We have a neighbor across the street who's yard is INFESTED with fire ants - why they don't treat the property that their $300k house sits on, I couldn't tell you. What I can tell you is that every time they mow, the mounds are disturbed and the ants migrate - many to OUR yard. So, we have a never-ending battle with migration onto our property. Ampro has consistently helped us deal with this issue - we now have "drawn" a line with this product across the edge our front yard and down the sides to help keep the migration at bay. Ampro has consistently killed off the mounds that show up in our yard, usually within 24 - 36 hours, with little migration from those treated mounds. Fire ants are persistent and as another reviewer pointed out, unless everyone in your neighborhood is treating their lawns at the same time, you'll never be fully rid of them; but this product goes a long way in keeping them in check. It is a little pricey compared to other products out there, but you don't have to water it in (a big plus - too easy to disturb the mound), it's low odor, and very easy to apply. September 10, 2016
