Product Overview

The AMDRO Fire Ant Bait kills the queen fast and destroys the fire ant mound. Once you distribute a circle of bait around the mound, it’s only a matter of time before the worker fire ants share it with the queen. After the queen eats it and dies, her colony dies with her. The granules are designed for individual mound treatment but can also be used for broadcast application in outdoor areas.

California residents: see   Proposition 65 information

  • Kills the queen fast
  • Can be used to destroy individual mounds
  • Destroys visible and hidden mounds
  • For outdoor use
  • Ready-to-use, does not require mixing

Is it ok to use around chicken coops?

Asked by: Anonymous
The directions say that this product can be used "on grounds surrounding poultry houses (excluding runs and ranges).." It also says to "Avoid direct exposure of animals to AMDRO granules." My guess is that if you intend to eat the chickens or their eggs, or sell them for food do not use this product if the chickens can possibly eat the granules.

I've used it for a number of years and have never been disappointed. It usually kills within hours and gets the queen so the colony doesn't just "relocate".

Baits have always (I understood) been an effective strategy for control in relatively large areas. So far, though, I can't see that it had a dramatic effect on the mounds around me. Perhaps it just needs more time. I've had the baits out around mounds and between mounds for well over a week and in fact it may have severely damaged one that has been around a long time...but a new mound just popped up 10 feet away.

I have an acre so depend on how long I haven't used it, a large container can go along way. A little pricey but it works well.

I scattered this stuff generously on anthills and one week later---there they are again, in the same place. It might stun them temporarily, but this is not a permanent deterrent by far.
