Does this product work on Odorous House and Pavement Ants?

Asked by: Girdie
I do believe that it works on Odorous Ants. It should work on Pavement Ants.

Purchased Grant's Kills Ants from Amdro

Are these packets ready to use, they have hole in the center but the ants aren't going anywhere near these packets. Do the holes need to be punctured open? It says nothing on the box. Thanks for your help.

i don't think you need to do anything. the old-style stakes needed a little water, but these are ready to go. worked great for me, just be patient, it doesn't work overnight (i think it's made to sterilize the colony, not as an emergency remedy).

are you supposed to puncture the plastic covering the bait, or is there a way in for the ants? The directions say nothing about puncturing.

Customer Reviews

Kills Ants Bait Station (4-Pack) is rated 2.2 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keeps Little Unwelcome Guests at Bay Amdro Kills Ants stations are a handy way to prevent large-scale ant invasions. From past experience with the Argentine ants we get, the traps are not very effective once a large invasion has begins. But when used as a preventative measure, they seem to be effective as long as you replace them regularly. The instructions recommend the traps be replaced every 3 months when used indoors. As a reminder, I write the date when I first set them out on the bottom. It seems I can replace them every 6 months and still keep the ants out. It seems that the competing traps cost a little less for similar performance. Either one works for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does It's Job We purchase this yearly to combat the ants that like to invade our house come warm weather. I bought them early this year, since our weather can't seem to decide if it is going to be warm or cold. I put one by the front door, under a cabinet so the animals can't get to it, under our two living room radiators and one in our upstairs bathroom. We have an old house and these places are where the ants like to invade. Made the mistake one year of not using them and they invaded my candy dish. Not pretty nor appetizing. We have two dogs and two cats, so we do not like putting ant killer outside where they can get to it. These are contained and, because of where I put them, the animals can not get to them. The package shows white, but they are actually gray. I only wish there was more in the pack. However, it does last through the warm season since I am in Wisconsin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked Like a Charm Can't understand why this product received so many poor reviews. Perhaps it is from people who have species of ants not targeted and listed on the package, or some other reason. For us it worked like a charm. As this fall season has progressed, we had an army of ants coming through our dining room slider door from our deck and even had them crawling around the kitchen counter and sink. Bought these at Home Depot on Thursday evening, and placed on the floor along the inside of the slider. About an hour later ants were swarming all over the bait station like it was a tailgate party. Here it is Sunday morning, and there is not a trace of a single living ant. We recommend this product and Amdro in general to everyone having an ant problem, whether inside or outside of the home.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from How do I give zero stars?? absolute waste. bought this and placed in the middle of heavily infested area with ants in my house. watched for quite some time and ants were not interested on this at all. may be one has to open ants mouth and feed it to work.just waste of money

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad trap design, good bait The trap design is not so good - it's hard for ants to discover the "food". Then I just took the stuff out and put the piece right on the ant's trail. In 2 days the whole colony was dead.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ants Chuckle As They Parade By!! Placed them in 3 different locations day before yesterday--ants show no interest at all and walk around the bait station. Annother review I read said put some cheese or peanut butter on the outside and in the hole--tried cheese in one and PB in another but ants still walk right by. Another reviewer said add water and stir with a toothpick--that did not work either. What a waste of money!!!
