Product Overview

Active Ventilation Products Aura Ventilator Retrofit product line is designed to fit over a turbine ventilator roof base. It has a flared adapter that easily fits over an existing roof mounted metal base. The Aura Ventilator Retrofit has a patented engineered design to create CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) of air flow with no moving parts. Model AV-12-RF-BR has a 12 in. Dia throat opening and will produce 310 CFM at 11 mph with no moving parts. It is an excellent choice to exhaust attic heat in the summer and moisture in the winter. The Aura Ventilator Retrofit product line is made of durable rust free aluminum and has 2 manufactured components: The vent head and adapter. The vent head’s patented design has three concentric cylinders with slotted vertical louvers. When air moves against the louvers of the outer and middle cylinders it is directed to create a circular airflow while spinning against the inner louver section. This air movement creates a Venturi effect which produces a vacuum or negative pressure to pull air from within the attic space. The vent has a flat one piece spun cap that prevents rain and snow from entering the vent verses the turbine vent which is open to the sky and allows rain water to enter in “no wind” conditions. Model AV-12-RF-BR is powder coated with an electrostatic charge in brown finish.

  • Easy to install
  • Noiseless, does not require electricity to exhaust air from attics spaces
  • Leveling is not required; the aura ventilator retrofit can be installed parallel to the roof
  • Built-in inner vertical louvers has an 1/8 in. opening between the louvers to keep out insects, birds and squirrels from entering the vent while allowing optimal air flow and no maintenance
  • Will reduce attic temperatures in the summer and will keep the attic dry and cool in the winter to preserve attic insulation and prevent ice dams
  • Round aerodynamic design can with stand harsh weather and wind forces of up to 200 mph
  • Model AV-12-RF-BR, brown powder coating finish adheres extremely well and is more difficult to remove than wet paint which adds to the vents durability and long lasting clean appearance
  • Powder coating is significantly greater at resisting scratching, chipping, and oxidation
  • Net free air space: 113 sq. in.
  • Ventilation rule 1:300 (1 per sq. ft. of attic space): 1 vent per 450 sq. ft. of attic space
  • Helps to reduce energy costs
  • 5-year warranty

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best move i ever made and kept a happy wife after replacing two wind turbines and a roof, I finally found out where my roof was leaking, put two new brown coated aluminum no moving parts retrofit wind turbines on no more leaks no more noise what a difference December 10, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good, but maybe not the best I bought this to retro fit it to a 20 year old spinning turbine type vent that was squeaking (or not turning at all-so maybe the bearing went out) and never leaked a drop when it rained. About a couple of months after I put in the new vent, there was a pretty bad thunder storm with a lot of wind and rain and it leaked. Not a lot, but it did leak and got some stuff in the garage wet. I was pretty disappointed. I'm not sure if i would buy this type of vent again and I might end up putting in a new turbine vent like the old one. At least it was really easy to install. It only took less than an hour to remove the old one and put put in the new one. Would I recommend this product? There is no maybe on the recommend tab, so I will say ? November 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better choice than a turbine vent top... The Aura vents move as much or more air than a turbine style vent but they have no moving parts and don't actually move so there is nothing to wear out and start squeaking. Had this installed in place of a low profile vent in hopes of cooling my attic. This matched my Timberline roof where there was a solo vent was in a roof peak. Time will tell once it heats up this summer. In the past I could feel heat radiating in from the ceiling and in my upstairs dormer room. Had the dormer roof repaired with a new white surface roof and other Aura vents to try to keep the attic cool. April 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product I purchased three of these to replace older turbines which were allowing rain to come into the attic during our spring storms. These vent heads are well made and were simple to install onto the original stack pipes, had all three installed in less than thirty minutes. They look great and are keeping attic much cooler. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Go for it... First off, Home Depot was excellent with my online purchase and delivery. I spend too much whenever I go to the store - hence - online. :-) Packages arrived unscathed. All parts were there and I used the included parts (screws, etc.) Perfect fit on the original turbine mounts and a very easy install! Excellent engineering. So then - how do they work? I live in South West Florida. Sun is relentless. Roof and home are brown. With the turbines (which were working fine after some WD40) just didn't seem to get the heat out. I know - sounds odd but every time I went up in the attic for 5 minutes, I came down soaking wet. As long as there is a slight breeze - maybe 5mph - these vents keep things cool. PERIOD. I can go up there in the attic and not come down sweating like a pig. There it is... They work. And you will like. BTW, the vents are just a couple of inches higher than the roof peak. Maybe that matters. But as far as this old man is concerned - it's a buy..... May 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great replacement option I have an old 1930's 2 story farm home that the previous owner installed two (2) turbines when they last reroofed. This was one (1) too many and the steep rood made covering the turbines in the winter with course burlap (for ventilation) difficult. I am 100% committed to covering the vents in the winters. This product let me replace both turbines with a static vent, which included adding a self-closing damper (which was also found only thru Home Depot) gave me the perfect solution for too much roof vents. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent product - solved my problem. easy to install., solved our problem to vent the roof. December 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 12 in. retro vent Great product. I replaced all my turbin style vents with these, they have no moving parts and went right on the existing turbin vent base. Very easy installation. May 21, 2014
