Product Overview

Active Ventilation Products roof louver product line, the Pop Vent, is excellent for venting attic spaces on shingled sloped roofs. Pop Vent Model PV-14-C1-BL is a 14 in. Dia roof vent with a 1 inch collar height and an 19 in. x 19 in. square flange. It is powder coated with an electrostatic charge in black semi-gloss finish. The powder coating finish adheres extremely well and is more difficult to remove than wet paint which adds to the vents durability and long lasting clean appearance. Model PV-14-C1-BL will alleviate moisture in the winter and heat in the summer to extend the life of the roof and building structure. The Pop Vent roof louver product line has a manufactured one piece spun aluminum cap that is leak proof and corrosion resistant. It’s designed for superior exhausting performance. Its round covered vent cap has a lower louver section. This lower louver allows hot air to escape freely and efficiently, never trapping it up in the vent cap. The Pop Vent roof louver models have a built-in inner vertical louver cylinder to keep out birds, insects and animals that can clog the vent. The inner vertical louvers allow air to exhaust without resistance. Its round aerodynamic design can with stand harsh weather and wind forces up to 200 mph. The Pop Vent roof louver product line has proven to be the recommended choice for exhausting attic spaces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From a professional engineer's perspective.... 1. "Active Ventilation" is the name of the company that makes the product. yes the Home Depot site could make that more clear in their description 2. This is the largest open area vent I was able to find that was not powered, whirly-bird, and not a general eyesore. 3. This product is installed in Texas Ok, so I bought this product for the large open area. I have a hip roof, and recently added a radiant barrier to the attic space (under sheathing). A vent this size is a must for hip roofs so that you have a minimum number of penetrations in the roof to get the required ventilation. There are those who swear by powered ventilation for the attic, but the reality is that blocking the radiant (in the south) and allowing air to come in at the soffit and exhaust at the ridge is the best, most cost effective, most efficient method of handling the cooling of an attic. Case in point, house built in the 80's, radiant barrier, vented soffit around the whole house, vent duct (to keep an opening through the insulation) a full ridge vent and 3 of these vents, (using a standard ventilation to attic space of 300 square inches of ventilation per 1000 sf attic space) and we are saving nearly 15% on the electric bill.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Passive not active Very misleading that a company named Active Ventilation predominently makes passive ventilation products relying soley on convection. Not recommended if ductwork or HVAC equipment is installed in the attic, USE A POWERED FAN IN THAT CASE
