Product Overview

Active Ventilation Products solar powered attic fan product line, the Round Back Solar Fan, is excellent at exhausting attic spaces for shingled roofs. The solar panel provides energy to the fan on sunny days to increase the vent's CFM over and beyond a standard non-motorized static vent. The Round Back Solar Fan is made of rust free aluminum, 8 in. Dia exhaust fan with a 2 in. collar height and 13 in. x 13 in. square flange. Its low profile design looks pleasing on shingled roofs. The Round Back Solar Fan has a solid vent cap with an inner vertical louver cylinder to keep out insects, birds, and animals. The inner vertical louver allows air to exhaust without resistance. Model RBSF-8-BR is powder coated with an electrostatic charge in brown finish. The powder coating finish adheres extremely well and is more difficult to remove than wet paint which adds to the vents durability and long lasting clean appearance.

  • Excellent choice to removing radiant heat from attic spaces
  • Brown powder coating finish is significantly greater at resisting scratching, chipping, and oxidation
  • Has a 5 Watt high efficiency solar panel
  • Solar panel: 5 Watt, 12-Volt
  • Ventilation rule 1:300, application per sq. ft.: 200 sq. ft.
  • Net free air space: 50 sq. in.
  • 2 in. clearance between bottom of vent cap and flange
  • Built-in inner vertical louver cylinder has a 1/8 in. opening between louver blades that will keep out insects, birds, and animals while allowing air to move through the vent without resistance
  • Inner cylinder louver design does not allow accumulation of particle buildup as found in using an insect screen
  • 1/8th in. opening between the louver blades and all aluminum ("noncombustible") material meets the requirements of California building code 706A.2 Vents to resist the intrusion of burning embers and flame through ventilation openings
  • 365 CFM at 0.1 SP
  • Helps to reduce energy costs

Is the solar panel removable? If so how long is the cord and will the extension you sell, US Attic Fan Ext Cord work?

Or can I buy an extension? I need about 30-40 ft cord because my warehouse blocks all direct sunlight

The original is working flawlessly even with the sun partially in the clouds. After installing this new one, it will only work when the sun is pointing directly at the solar panel. I called the manufacture and was told nothing has changed with the product, it must not be getting enough sunlight. Thanks, big help. I put in a new computer fan and it works great. The fan was binding internally. If you contact the manufacture, don't expect any real help, they will tell you the solar panel are high quality and need to have Southern exposure. A good Solar panel will work just fine to move a small computer fan even when they don't have Southern exposure or in a partially cloudy sky. I guess the moral of the story is, don't expect a lot for $65.00.

Recently, when we had our roof replaced, we had the workers install these solar-powered fans instead of the standard vents. My wife and I are very pleased with the quality, style, and overall effect on the temperature in our attic space! Texas summer heat can be oppressive, most especially in attics. These fans have aided in taking the unbearable heat down a couple of notches which hopefully, in turn, will help our cooling costs as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moves more air then Other than a solar yard frog this is my first solar anything, lets just say my confidence in solar anything is rather low, but soon as the morning aunt hit the fans solar panel it was off to the races pulling way more air then I expected, Using fans and use to pull heat out of inside of a shed so far I am pleasantly surprised

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small but effective I bought 2 of these to vent a shed and a small 6x10 motorcycle garage/shed. Both sheds are in full sun all day. The fan is actually a electronics / computer type fan but suprisingly moves enough air to noticeably drop the temperature.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fan stopped working three years after purchase Installed four of these and all fans failed within 3 years of installation. Now going back to manufacturer to see if they'll cover the fan failure. They worked fine, even on cloudy days, when the fans were operational and lowered my attic temps 6F, so they do work. Price is now $10 higher than when I bought mine. Previous reviewer questioned the fan's durability as he labeled it a "PC fan", guess he was right.
