There are no written instructions for this product; just a CD, and the CD that was int he box was for a completely different lock.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ElGuapo Just my humble opinion
Works the first time, every time for myself and the kids (boys). My wife and sister sometimes need two attempts to gain access. I'm not sure why, but it may be because they have long fingernails making it difficult for them to submit enough of their finger tips for a proper reading. For about the same price you can purchase a bluetooth deadbolt but the fact that it requires a compatible smartphone, a downloaded app and making sure that your cell phone battery doesn't die before you get home, this was the better option for me. This way I don't have to worry about anybody losing their house keys or cell phones or forgetting them at home. Biometric is the way to go!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Harold Very convenient lock for everyday use
Very cool product. We've had the Nextbolt installed for just over two weeks and I just thought we'd share some thoughts on it. I'm sure based on my first comment needless to say we like it a lot. We read about this lock in Wired magazine and went searching for one online.
It came in a white box with a mini suitcase handle on top, quite cute. The packaging is high quality and the instructions included are on a CD so you need a computer to view them. (which is no biggie in recent times). We followed the instructions and had it going in about 20 minutes. So far all 4 of us have enrolled and used it many times each day ever since. To date it's recognized us each and every time with no issues. If techie items are your thing then you'll like this. By the way we bought this because we lost our keys grocery shopping and had to break a window to get inside our home which cost significant money to fix. This thing means we always can get in.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Path Pretty cool gadget
The nextbolt is quite difficult to install. I already had the holes in the doors made by my contractor. Even still, getting the mechanism to work was very challenging. I had to install, remove, adjust, re-install, re-remove, re-adjust, etc for a few hours before I finally got it to work. The unit also is a little unreliable with fingerprint detection. Sometimes it takes the lock 2-3 attempts to recognize my fingerprint, and other times it happens instantly on the first attempt. Aside from being a great conversation starter, it also is pretty convenient.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by mrfixitright A bit quirky
The product arrived in a timely manner. It has a very nice look to it but, I had to widen the existing hole for it to fit. The real trouble is with setting up the fingerprints. So far I have only been able to set one print and that was just luck. The lock does not respond how the instructions state. It is also extremely picky as to how you rest your finger in the reader. It will decline more often than it accepts. I am going to keep trying to set it up because the old key lock will no longer fit. If you're looking for a DIY lock this is not it.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by alanski Nice product but hard to program users
This is a very nice looking product and when you have a user enrolled it works very well. Unfortunately the manual and process for enrolling new users is painful. I spent more than 30 minutes this morning following the instructions in the manual and could not get it to add additional user fingerprints.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Jfish222 Not ideal for large office but functional
We have <20 employees and wanted to avoid handing out keys (a recent firing resulted in the loss of a set and we had to change our locks.)
Our front door only has a fixed pull handle and deadbolt, so the biometric units with a "door knob" was not applicable.
The unit is functional and easy enough to install.
Needs a better mechanism for programming if you have more then a couple of users. Not office friendly device.
Programming requires a series of key press combinations to represent each user. This is a pain in the neck after the second or third user, and the instructions did not quite jibe with the actual procedure.
This product would be much better if there were a way program it via computer (ie: through a USB stick or similar method.)
The unit comes with 3 keys for use in a pinch. The little nub on the lower portion of the lock pictured is just a plastic cap that sits over the cylinder's key port.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Joer Works well - high quality
This is our first biometric lock - a new experience but mostly positive. The lock is very high quality and matches the typical satin nickel door hardware. Installation and user instructions are included on a CD.
Installation went well but the lock is very sensitive to being installed with no interference with the hole in the door jamb. The bolt is driven by a motor not as strong as your hand. Works fine if installed correctly. Original batteries (included) gave out pretty quickly. Second set - good alkalines - is fine so far after a month.
Programming is through a series of steps that must be executed in the right order, within the right time. it took me a while to figure out how to do it even with the instructions. Some people's fingers are difficult to read - lotion helps - this is covered in the instructions.
Once the programming is done, use is pretty straightforward. It's easy to leave it unlocked if you are home and want to go in and out. When you're leaving it's easy to lock. Program a few fingers on each hand in case one doesn't read for some reason. You get a few tries to get a good read.
Not having to carry and fumble with keys is so far well worth the new procedures to get used to.
