Answer:
What do you mean not moving? It is a thermometer, not a clock. It will move when the temperature goes up or down. There is no calibration. It just reads the current temperature wherever you are. If it is saying 40 & it is a hot day, it's broken. Take it back

Answer:
You can use one nail, as we did or there is an attachment with screws & a metal bar that somehow affixes. It would require drilling & the screws do not look very long. Just a nail holds it in the long hole attachment. In other words, you slide it down on a nail to keep it secure. There is a prefab hole in the top & the sliding down affect keeps it from just blowing right off in wind.

Rated 2.1 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Each had a different reading I checked these out at my local HD and found that each recorded a different temperature. Shame on who made these thermometers, shame on the HD buyer of these thermometers. June 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by More like InAcuRite This thermometer can't provide you with an accurate temperature reading - high or low. It was in the single digits here last week and my thermometer seemed to think it was 60 degrees. Skip this one and save your money for a thermometer that actually works. February 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Total Junk I was using it outside and I don't think it ever registered below 75 degrees, even in winter. There is no way to calibrate it either. You get what you pay for I guess and in this case I paid for a frisbee. February 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Inaccurate to the nth The temp here is 55 degrees according to the weather station. This crazy thermometer is dead on 100!! (It is doing better than a day ago when it was indicating 120 degrees!) This is a replacement the company provided after the one I bought did the same thing. If you want a thermometer that will drive you batty, buy this one by all means! October 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I was looking for. Excellent value. Accurate, easy to read, not too large. January 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by In the Freezer I actually use this thermometer in the freezer and guaged it against a digital thermometer. This thermometer was right on the mark. It's really accurate and you can't beat the price. When I bought it in the store, I looked at about 5 of them on the shelf. They all had the same temperature. That's a pretty good test. October 6, 2010
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not accurate at higher temps It is actually 93 degrees here right now according to 2 different reporting stations. This thermometer is reading 104 degrees in the shade. June 10, 2012
