CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 54 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clear display, appears to work good I purchased this for a music room to ensure proper humidity levels for guitars. It took about 10 minutes to adjust to the room. I almost returned it at first because the temperature appeared stuck on 81 degrees. However, after about 10 minutes the temperature was dead on, based on my IR thermometer. I have no method to assess the accuracy of the hygrometer, but based on other's reviews, I expect it be accurate. If I move it into the a/c vent air path, the humidity drops quickly, so it appears to have good sensitivity and responsiveness. I care about the humidity, not the temperature, so the fact that larger first number is the humidity and not the temperature is perfect for my use. I will likely purchase another one to take traveling in my guitar case. I just purchased this today, so I cannot comment on long term quality, but out of the box, I have no complaints. It does not have a back-light, but then I have no need to read it in the dark. The high/low record resets automatically every 24 hours based on the time of day you installed the battery. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great, fairly accurate, monitor The monitor has a very clear display which can be easily viewed at any distance or angle. It has a button on the back to display the temperature in either Celsius or in Fahrenheit. It also has a clip-on with a magnetic strip attached on the back which can also be turned into a stand to place the monitor in almost any part of your home. Although there is no way to calibrate the monitor, the temperature and humidity readings are fairly accurate. Compared to 2 other thermometers and tested with a hygrometer calibration kit for relative humidity, the readings were accurate most of the time but can occasionally be off by as much as 2 degrees Fahrenheit or 2% RH. Since I have only owned the product for a week, I can't say how durable the product is and if the readings can still be accurate in the long run. It does include a 1 year warranty but according to the manual, you must register the product online to be eligible for the warranty. June 3, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very inaccurate Hygrometer I bought this for my cigar humidor specifically for the hydrometer portion although temp is important also. I did the salt test for checking accuracy and the hygrometer is 15% low with no means to adjust, that is completely unacceptable. I saw a lot of reviews stating that is was a good unit and accurate without saying how they know its accurate. Before reviewing you might want to check the actual accuracy. March 23, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Inaccuate Hygrometer The hygrometer function in the unit I purchased is grossly inaccurate. The RH readiings were were off by -14 percent when compared with a properly calibrated professional quallity unit ( and also confirmed by the "salt test "). Other inexpensive units that I have previously purchased have been within <+-5% . BTW, these units were dispaled outside in the "greenhouse" area of my local HD store. Maybe these conditions aren't the best for the sensors. I returned the unit and will look for another brand . March 27, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Every Homeowner must have this This is a must have for every homeowner. after every house we finish building, we tell every homeowner to go out and buy one of these so they can keep an eye on the humidity in their house and then they can properly set their dehumidifier or humidifier. i have tested this up against my more expensive temperature and humidity gauge and i have to say this one is pretty accurate. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect tool for the job The Accurite digital humidity and temperature monitor does its job very well. Humidity and temperature are displayed with large, easy to read numbers. The high and low temperature and humidity for the previous 24 hours are displayed as well. The unit is compact, and is not weighed down by unnecessary features (such as a clock). I've got two, and they are great to move around the house to check for hot/cold spots, as well as to check humidity levels in out of the way places such as the basement. They are also useful to use in the bathroom after a shower to see how quickly the exhaust fan deals with the post-shower humidity. November 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little temperature measurer Does the job. Seems accurate, unless all the other thermometers are off too. Easy to read. March 10, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient digital hygrometer, but confusing indicator I've been using this for about 6 weeks, and I'm inclined to think it provides value in terms of reading indoor humidity changes. I cannot vouch for relative humidity (RH) accuracy because I don't have the tools or expertise to validate it. The temperature reading seems to be accurate. I was trusting the RH reading until I noticed the little "house indicator" appeared inconsistent.. For example, at 68 deg F, the RH would read 28% and the "house" display would say "ok". Then later, the temp would be 66 deg F, the RH would read 34% and it would say "low". I heard the relationship between humidity and temperature is complex, but still, the Acurite website says the indicator says 'low' for levels <25%, 'ok' for 25% to 55%, and 'high' for anything higher. Mine does not work this way (see picture), and a call to the tech support to get an explanation got me nowhere. I will say that moving it towards steam or breathing on it will cause it to read a higher RH, so it does sense humidity. But I don't know what to make of the "house" indicator, which is trying to warn you about unhealthy conditions. March 5, 2015
