Answer:
Please verify you have removed the tab from the battery compartment. Also try to remove the battery and reinstall if needed. For the best view on the display, view straight on, not from an angle.

The specification says "It's more than accurate, it's AcuRite." but it doesn't include how accurate is the reading displayed by the thermometer.

I would not think very accurate since the suction cup places the unit right at the window. The actual window and surrounding house are hot in summer and in winter, radiating heat from within. Also, the location of the window being used could be in full sun or shaded by a tree and other variables. So it becomes a question of getting a reading of your home's exterior wall as opposed to an air reading away from any buildings. Another problem is that all weather reporting agencies provide a different temperature figure and you don't know how often they update as well as the accuracy of their equipment. To find out, you would probably have to compare your reading to that of a calibrated mercury lab quality thermometer. Lastly, temperatures can vary widely from place to place depending on the density of surrounding buildings, concrete slabs, blacktop, and available trees. Read Less

Rated 2.7 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good thermostat to use indoor and outdoor I placed new thermostat covers throughout the office. These thermostats had a suction cup for the outdoor windows so you can see the temp from inside the window. I used them inside the thermostat covers to verify the room temp along with the settings of the thermostat. We had been setting to 75 and the room was 68, we needed to verify so that building maintenance could reset the system. We now utilize these items to control anyone from touching the thermostat and also to continue to verify the room temp. September 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Returned item; not as advertised and the one I received read 5 degrees cooler I returned this item and just ended up fixing the suction cup on my own thermometer. The thermometer I received was not the one pictured and described here. I might have kept it but it read 5 degrees cooler than my other thermometers and my local weather report. August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clear N Simple This little unit works like a charm in the daytime, is easy to read, clear and was a cinch to install. I've had it about 6 weeks so do not know how well it does long term. Temperatures in Wisconsin have not been extremely cold yet (just below freezing), so I am not able to report how well it works with temperatures below 0. Another reporter indicated it doesn't function below 0. Keep in mind it only gets the outside temperature, not inside and outside. If it keeps working (including the suction cups), it is definitely worth the money! December 6, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by to be returned The suction did not stay on the window for more than a few minutes. The temp. showed 47 degrees when in actuality it was 30 degrees. Also, the product was hard to read unless it is daylight. February 23, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Bought this to replace an old thermometer that looked similar but the suction cup broke on it. #1 - I don't think it's accurate. Seems to report the temp is a few degrees warmer than it actually is. #2 - You can only see the temperature during the day when there is light shining behind it. At night the display is unreadable, even shining a flashlight on it does not work. Lesson learned: should have just bought a new suction cup and fixed the old thermometer the way my grandfather would have done. February 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Will return it I placed it next to another unit and it always reads 2-3 degree to high. You can only see the numbers if there is a light background like snow or other. If the background is slightly dark like trees, bushes or grass, it is impossible to see the numbers. I will return the unit. February 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not wireless unless you count a suction cup on a window I bought this as it was listed as wireless. I needed it to report the temp in my attic. Well, it is a single unit that you stick on the outside of a window. It is wireless alright, but not electronic. After doing an in-store pickup, I returned it at the cust service desk. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good while it lasted. Kind of disapointed with the performance of this product. While at 8 dollars my expectations were not real high even i was disapointed when the display began to fail after about a week. I will return it next time i am close to the store. June 22, 2012
