I have been looking for a thermometer for my Koi pond so I know how to feed. The convenience of having the reading in the house is a real nice. The in pond thermometers were always a pain to read. I have had no leakage of water into the sensor as mentioned earlier. I did put some silicone grease on the gasket as a precaution. I really like the feature of having the 3 day graph so I can have an easy trending comparison. I have other AcuRite products and have been happy with them. I will be getting a weather station and hope this unit will work as a sensor so I can track any trends of the water temperature to the air temperature. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with a Koi pond.

This is an exchange item due to a problem with the Hi temperature inaccurate readings of anywhere between 110 and 158F. This replacement does the same. Spend your money on another product.

Usually I do some research but I seen this at Home Depot and decided that buy thought it was a great idea. When I got home I read the reviews but gave it a try anyway. At first it worked great. Three days later it stopped working I took it out of the pool and water was in battery compartment. I took it back. Will wait until they improve it to try again.

I buy one of these every spring for our pool (last 4 years). The battery compartment inevitably leaks and subsequent water damage destroys the sensor. This year the first one I bought this year leaked straight away; even after trying to seal with silicone it was still dead within two weeks.
As long as you know you're probably going to have to replace every year it works well. Never had a problem with range and accuracy seems ok.
The good news is that we keep the remote display units every year after we trash the sensor. Now we have multiple sensors around the house and patio that we sync with the new unit every year.

This is my third purchase of this item. I know, but I really like the idea and so want this to work; but alas, here I am giving it 1 star. It works great for about 3 weeks then the sending unit fails and the receiving unit displays the last temp received with no indication anything is wrong...other than the ever constant temperature of the water. The sending unit is still completely sealed with no damage every time. For what ever reason it just is a poorly made product in my many experiences. Save your money and time and just walk out to the pool to check the teperature.
