When assembled it's not even close to be straight. After that the top part doesn't work as in process of assembly the cord falls apart right where it goes out of the switch so there is no way to fix it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bonsai315 Nice quality lamp!
This is a nice quality lamp for this style. Very handsome. Nice wood and real glass shade, which is hard to find. It was a little difficult to assemble to make sure that it was perfectly straight. Also, everything seems to be well made except for the knobs of all things. Those are made out of plastic and are pretty chintzy. The light that it gives off is great, very bright. So bright that you may want to switch to a slightly lower wattage bulb.

Appearance is beautiful. I am not too smart in assembling things, but I found this floor Lamp so easy to assemble. So If I could put it together, I believe anyone can do it.

Love the look of this lamp once we got it together, but getting there was not easy. The cord in the pole had to be taken out and restuffed in order for the top pole to fit all the way in -- quite a hassle. It took two people (needed 4 hands and a flashlight) to accomplish the task. In the process, we may have damaged some of the wiring, because the top switch does not function as a 3-way switch anymore. That was not a big concern for us, so we are pleased with the final product. It is sturdy, solid, and has good balance sitting on a plush carpet.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pwalligan Good lighting, but standard bulbs
This lamp, for its price, offers the best lighting at 300 watts for room lighting in a mother-daughter (room/reading lamp) torchiere of any I could find.
The glass globe is nicely patterned (doesn't show up well in the pictures on line) and the wood and metal pole gives it a "warm" feeling in contrast to the all metal lamps. It has high and low settings for the room light, with the low setting good for watching TV.
The downside is that the main fixture takes standard bulbs only (the reading lamp takes either standard of CFL bulbs).
I also wasn't thrilled by the gooseneck of the daughter lamp, but it serves its purpose well.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mm17 Very nice torchiere/daughter lamp
This lamp was easy to assemble. It has a weighty base, very stable. The wood pole with brushed silver-colored components is handsome. I particularly like the daughter lamp that has a metal shade so that the light from it is directed primarily toward the person sitting next to it. Most daughter lamps have a translucent shade that spreads the light to the rest of the room, which may not be optimal for others in the room, watching TV, etc.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mimi well made and elegant
I shopped for floor lamp for a few months, returned two from Lowe's and one from home depot 's own brand. And saw this lamp at a local store, but found it sold at home depot website for $30 cheaper!
Love it, it's heavy duty, but not too clucky for glass lamp shade (the reason I returned two of the lamp ). Very bright for 300w, option for half strength. Can take both cfl and tradition bulbs. I use the bulbs because it has no mercury.
