Can this be used with a fence panel instead of using fresh wood to build the gate itself?

I have a fence panel leftover from a privacy fence I put up and would love to simply use that to complete the gate area. Is it possible to do this using this system?
Asked by: Dragonlady
Its not designed for that, and would probably prove difficult, but nothing is impossible.

Will this gate support a 6ft high fence

Asked by: Miller21
Yes, i built a privacy fence at 6' but i wouldn't recommend building the fence over 6' in length

I need to install a double swing gate on a 20 feet wide driveway. Is there a way to make it work with two 96" wide gates?

Asked by: Forsak87
Well, obviously, twice 96" is only 16 feet so you're short. You'd have to trim two feet off each side and have your opening in the middle.. I had a 23-foot opening on my back yard fence and I got a custom rolling gate made at the local fence shop.

We moved to a new place that is very nice except for the wooden fence. I replaced some pickets which made the two existing gates look even more shabby. Saw the Adjust-a-gate product and decided to replace both gates. Worked out great. Only negative: Manufacturer packed two identical hinge plates rather than proper mirror image plates. Home Depot was very quick to contact manufacturer but they sent hinge plates for a different model. Got back on the phone to HD and they quickly got it straightened it out.

The gate systems worked well with the 5' gates but they weren't rigid enough for the larger gates. I would say that as long as you are building a gate 6' or less that they would be sufficient.

The screws provided, I felt were inadequate for the design of the gate and the weight it must hold. Therefore I drilled some of the holes, hinges, larger and used longer larger lags.

I loved the simplicity of it but the hinges, which aren't really hinges, do not hold the gate steady. It seems like there should be some kind of bushing or sleeve that would go over the post of the hinge to fill the gap so the gate doesn't have so much "play" when it is opened and closed. Please let me know if there is a solution for my problem so I can fix the looseness of the "hinge". The gate kit was so easy to use to build the gate but the "hinge" was a problem.

The assembly was easy and the metal frames kept warping to a minimum. The tension cable clamp installed worked fine but the factory "crimp clamp" ended up slipping. I think it was because of the weight of the gate. The fix was simple - a new clamp like the one that came with the kit worked just fine.
