This washer holds a lot of clothes and the spin cycle makes drying quicker. BUT.....it takes forever to fill with water and makes the strangest noises. When switching between wash and rinse it sounds like gears grinding and that's just the start. The manufacturer states that it's the washer sensing the balance of the load but it still clunks against the side and even causes the machine to move a few inches. If you're looking for a bargain washer then look elsewhere. This machine is so loud that having this on the main floor is impossible and it takes one and a half time longer than most machines.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doug Terrible washer broke in 18 months
I would give it 0 stars if I could. The first one arrive from Home Depot delivery men and was installed. It failed to work. It filled then would not go into any cycle, just drained once it was full. Home Depot would not replace it after less than 24 hours of being at my residence so we had to deal with maytag who apparently owns admiral products. They worked it out so we could get another unit. This new one was in use no more than 18 months and then stopped working. Such a piece of garbage. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. We are a low income family and this cost us more than going to the laundromat for the 18 months. Worthless scrap metal

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Susie Had this washer 8 months and no longer works
Washer was adequate, nothing special, but seemed to get my clothes clean enough. Last weekend I noticed it was taking a long time to wash a load. This weekend it doesn't agitate or spin. Only had it eight months and now I'm online trying to figure out what's wrong and how to repair it.
I don't think I would recommend or get another Admiral.

My fault for not doing more research: No Presoak=After the Wash cycle runs for a minute, I press Pause & unplug the washer to soak without draining the tub. No Softener option=the Rinse cycle is not fast enough to drain the Downy Ball, so I have clothes with Softener on them. Now I listen for the Rinse cycle to fill, then hand pour Downy into the water. Too much Cold water is added to the tub=I switch between Warm & Hot settings to ensure the jeans and towel loads come out clean. Agitator put rips in brand new bedsheets & favorite blouses. High Efficiency is inconvenient, I'm replacing this unit with a regular washer.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Luke Admiral W1024059D Washing Machine
I replaced my 18 year old washing machine with this unit. It does not have the bells and whistles as the previous unit. I have noted that the Admiral unit is quieter than my previous one and finishes the cycle in less time of about 5 minutes. I noted from some of the previous reviews (specifically Matt from Georgia had the same problem with the same unit - Take a look at the photos!).
I took his lead and replaced the unit instead of repairing it. It turns out that the waste pump gasket had completely fell apart. The cost of repair would have been about the same as buying new. So the washer and dryer pair don’t match now. It is still way better money spent.

This washing machine has a mind of it's own!! First of all, the top locks so I can't open to insert softner, add additional clothing, .... Sometimes it will unlock for me, sometimes not. And, when it does unlock and then re-locks, it starts the whole cycle completely over. Also, I can never tell exactly where it is in the cycle, so even if I could unlock it to add softner, I wouldn't know when to do so unless I just stood right there and listened for it.
I contacted Home Depot within 30 days of receipt of the washer and was told that if there was a defect, I could contact Home Depot within 48 hours of receipt or after that I had to contact the manufacturer. Also that, "Major appliances are non-returnable. Sometimes an agreement can be made with your local store manager for a return of a major appliance, but it is at his/her discretion." Since there was not anything really "defective", I was stuck with this machine.
Sorry I purchased this washing machine....I will be replacing it asap....and not with another Admiral and not through Home Depot.
