If you're willing to re-engineer this aerator/spreader, you can turn it into a decent piece of equipment. But you'll have to fabricate some new parts. Get a couple of 2 hole pillow block bearings - 5/8 bore (about $15.00 a piece) with set screws to tighten down on the axle. Agri-fab includes plastic bushings for bearings - yea. Mount the new bearings on the inside so that you can line up the two sprockets correctly - this will help keep the chain on. The spike disk where designed to use those plastic bushings also to fit on the 5/8 inch axle - not good. Get a 36" length of 3/4" light wall steel tubing - it will just fit over the axle and the spike disk will just fit over the 3/4 inch tubing - you'll need to drive the disk on because it is a good snug fit. Cut the tubing to the proper length - leave it a little short. You can still use the spacers in between the disk. Install one at a time and spot weld disk to the tubing keeping the points of the disk lined up with each other. Have your axle in the tubing to help minimize any warping from the heat as you are welding. Spot welding will keep them from wobbling all over the place and with points lined up you'll get better penetration. You'll need to measure and drill holes for pins so that you can fix the disk tubing to the axle itself - which already has holes for this purpose - just measure twice and drill once. I decided against the cotter pins and bought compression pins to drive in. Also consider getting a 1/4 X 1 1/2 inch length of steel bar to make a decent tongue, the light wall steel tubing probably won't last. Use the existing tongue as a pattern for your angles. And the plastic wheels won't last either and as one reviewer said, they are too big and don't allow the spike disk to penetrate as needed. You can put an additional $75 to $125 and 20- 40 hours extra into this thing and make it a decent piece of equipment. With Agri-fab you get a parts kit that you can improve upon if you have the tools, time and the ability to fabricate some better parts - luckily I did. Without modification this is a poor piece of equipment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from says it has 100 # capacity.. it won't work properly with 40#!!!! look at the picture of the ligh... says it has 100 # capacity.. it won't work properly with 40#!!!! look at the picture of the light frame that holds it up on the wheels. that tubing bent inward as soon as I put 80# in.....with 40# of dry fertilizer in it ,the chain that turns the agitator inside the tub won't stay on... no way this was engineered for more than 20# .... save your self the aggravation of putting together the 100 or so parts.... it doesn't work! I took mine back
