Customer Questions & Answers

How well does this work?

We just bought a horse farm and the ground is really bumpy when I mow due to the horses hooves. Will this really roll out the hoof indentations? Do I wait until a heavy rain or what?
Asked by: beenthereDonethat
Depends on how soft and pliable your soil is. I doubt it will work well enough. It seems too light for that task. I would use a heavier steel roller for a pasture or harrows with flat bars to drag the grass and shave off the high spots. Someone suggested filling it with sand, which would make the roller heavier and that may help.

18 in. x 48 in. Poly Tow Lawn Roller is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 35.

It came in a broken up cardboard box, the bag with hardware was broken and couple of nuts missing. I didn't bother to request replacements, as I had some on hand. Assembly is a guess work, but not difficult to do. The manual could not be written any worse. The plug did not seal and ended up getting ejected from the hole during operation. I was lucky enough to find it, but have doubts it will seal, as the hole is quite uneven. I may have to ream it to make it work. It took me a while to figure out that the plug is adjustable. I have to try it again to see if it fits better after adjustments. Overall, I think it will work for me, as it is light enough to store empty in my barn attic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS is how I roll! The roller works great - it's easy to store because of the reasonable weight when it's empty, and after filling it's quite effective on the Dog Agility field that I maintain ... great feel with hardly any divots or bumps after mowing. As a bonus, beautiful striping like you see on the pro sports fields! But the best part of my experience was the customer service. "A" third-party company shipped the roller to me WITHOUT HARDWARE to assemble the roller to the frame and the staff at Agri-Fab immediately got the process going to make sure I could start using it as soon as possible. It's so rare these days (sadly) to find a company that understand Customer Service like these folks do ... I now have a roller AND an aerator from them and I won't look anywhere else for other similar purchases in the future. Thanks for treating me so well!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not heavy enough Easy to assemble and made of good quality material, but still doesn't have the weight to make a big difference

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Agrifab 48" poly rolller I got the longer 48" because of the amount of ground I have to cover. It doesn't work as well as I expected. It would be interesting to see if the 24x36 steel roller did a better job; more weight and higher ground psi because it isn't as long as the 48". I rolled after a 2" rain, so the ground was fairly soft. We have a high clay content with a clay pan about a foot down. I believe this would probably be better on more loamy soils. I also wonder if the poly flexes just a bit. The steel may be more ridged. Anyway, I'll keep using it to help keep the moles hills down and to smooth out the horse hoof gouges. I'd recommend a roller for ground maintenance, but let your ground character determine the size roller, don't just go with a 48" just for speed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 18 in. x 48 in. Poly Tow Lawn Roller I have only had this product for only a couple months. Order arrived in just a few days. Put it together in a few minutes. I filled it with water right away. No leaks. Every thing looked good. Tried it and all worked great. Left the water in and I go out and move it a little when I think of it. The box that it came in was torn all up, but all the parts were there. Over all it's been a good deal. This is my second time ordering from Home Depot all has been ok!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice roller The roller is easy to assemble. Was missing one bolt due to hole in hardware bag and box but otherwise the roller arrived intact. The roller is very light when empty which is nice. I used it twice and so far it works as advertised.
