As a kid 40 years ago I used my Dad's sweeper all the time in the fall on Long Island. Now I live in Florida with much thicker grass. Every year after raking my 1/2 acre for hours I'd say - I got to see if they still make those sweepers and get one. I finally did this year! It works just as I remembered. After a few passes through the yard I dialed-in the best height adjustments depending upon grass density and thickness. This sweeper does a great job on leaves as well as pine needles. I used to separately rake pine needles while walking with a rake dragging behind to collect to use them for bed mulch. Now the sweeper sweeps them up and i'ts much easier and quicker. Product is plenty sturdy, well made, and easy to put together. I can't wait till more leaves and pine needles fall! Hard to believe I just said that!!??

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cosmo Excellent lawn sweeper
I thought this sweeper worked very well. It doesn't pick up every little leaf/twig, but it does a really great job of picking up most easily. I read a lot of mediocre reviews for this before I bought it, so I was skeptical, but it's better than many reviewers give it credit for.
Make sure to adjust the height correctly. That's the most important thing, and it's very easy to do. You should be able to feel the brushes brushing the ground. You want that to add a little resistance to your pushing but not so much that it's difficult to keep the sweeper moving. Level ground also helps as plenty of other people have mentioned, but it works fine on hills and slightly uneven ground.
I disagree that it's only for light jobs. Our house backs up to a wooded area, and we get tons of leaves. But I could raise the sweeper to its largest height and pretty much tackle any pile of leaves. You won't get it in one pass by any means, but go over it a few times, lowering periodically if needed. It'll work. I actually think piles were easier than a large, light spread of leaves.
The hopper is plastic and it fills up quickly. I don't get why this is a common complaint. It's a leaf collector. You want to it collect quickly. If it was any larger, it'd be unmanageable. It's a good size for transferring into a trash can/bag. You can fill up the hopper in about a minute, so you will spend most of your time emptying the hopper rather than sweeping. But that doesn't mean the hopper is too small. That's just how fast the sweeper works. As for the plastic durability, I haven't had mine very long at all, but it seems durable enough. It's made out of material like a common tarp, and we're just temporarily holding leaves here.
The assembly isn't bad. Set aside an hour and you probably will be done early. The instructions aren't that difficult. You need some basic tools, really just a couple of wrenches. A hammer and needle-nose pliers will make your life much easier on the palnuts.
This sweeper doesn't 100% pick up everything or eliminate the need to own a rake. In fact, it really works best if you rake leaves into little piles or rows that you can sweep over. My wife raked into rows that I swept over and we finished both of our seriously neglected, leaf-covered, not entirely level lawns in about 2 hours. That was 6 completely full 39 gallon trash bags of leaves. That would have been an all day project before.
Clearing your lawn still takes some work, but this provides a massive reduction in the amount of that work. And it really doesn't take a ton of storage space when you're finished with it. It's easy to use and very effective. I highly recommend this product.

I bought it and tried it for the first time. It worked fairly well once I figured out a few tricks. The height has to be exactly right, you need several passes and you need to empty the bag often. It seems to pick up about 80 percent of the leaves. Good on twigs and pinecones too.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EMEKEE Works surprizingly well
This lawn sweeper works even better than we had expected. The assembly was fairly straight forward. A bit disappointed that the metal handle screws into the plastic frame; we are hoping that this holds up and does not break- (have been using it for about a month and so far so good). It picks up leaves and pine needles very effectively and with ease. If you grass is on the longer side or the leaves are very thick it can be a bit of a work-out to push. We also like it stores fairly flat. Overall for a half acre yard where we used to rake our leaves onto a tarp to carry them to the street for collection, it is a great time saver!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DN Don't buy this sweeper
The plastic casing is so flimsy that the drive gears in the wheels bind up and make it very difficult to push. The catch basket is pretty small, I could only go one row in my yard before having to empty it. I took it back.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Grandma terrible purchase
The assembly of this product was not bad , but the wheels keep locking up and the nut and bolt for the height adjustment will not tighten properly (bad set up) so it just keeps dropping down. Will only work some what on level ground and then you have to hand remove the leaves from it. One of the worst purchases we have made.

I bought this item because my parents had one when I was living at home many years ago. Back then they were made of metal and a thicker canvas. It took me almost 2 hours to finally get it together.then to find one part didn't have the holes in the upper handle.I called the company and had the part shortly after I called . A couple of days.they are made for light duty not for rough work.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jimbo Good. Push lawn sweeper.
It was what I was looking for. I had one previously. This one is lighter so I have to push harder to get through the grass. It is still a short cut toraking.
