Customer Questions & Answers

How low to the ground can this be adjusted? "infinite adjustment"...what does that mean exactly?

I want to use a sweeper for a large brick courtyard, I am afraid they do not adjust low enough to be used on a flat surface.
Asked by: hotroxie
I have a pull behind Ohio Steel sweeper at home after doing extensive research on them. I love it. I had hoped a push sweeper could give me remotely positive results at work on a brick patio... NOT THE CASE. I bought this one and tried my heart out, then returned it :( NOT recommended for a flat patio surface unless you want minimal results with maximum passes over same spot.

does yours throw more leaves out the front than into the basket?

Tho I can't see how it's possible to put the brushes on backwards, I wonder, because my sweeper throws more leaves out the front of the unit than into the basket behind. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, as mine therefore seems unusable, yet most people rave about theirs??

26 in. Push Lawn Sweeper is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 99.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted My husband put it together, saying it took a while to ignore the instructions and do it the right way. The first one took hours, another one might take 15 minutes! But it works great. Need to adjust the height of the brushes as I use it. It's been a dry late summer, so I got it for the dry leaves. Fall leaves will be starting any time now. I dump the leaves on to a tarp to make a funnel to put them into the paper yard bags. The bag on the sweeper is relatively flexible, and is a type of tarp material, but the leaves don't easily go from the lawn sweeper bag into the paper yard bags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Does the job it's supposed to do. Picks up the acorns that my puppy loves to chew so that makes it well worth the price. Grass has to be cut rather short because pushing it is difficult in taller (3" or so).

I have live oaks which regularly shed leaves and once or twice a year have heavy leaf or acorn shed. I Also have pines which shed needles. Raking this stuff takes hours. I was getting tired of the maintenance and looking for a solution. This gadget is both a time and a back saver. Is it perfect ? - NO. Is it adequate? - YES. I would guesstimate it picks upabout 80plus % of the pine needles and leaves on my lawn. Which is good enough , as my mulching lawn mower can pick up the balance. It doesn't seem to do very well on acorns, at least in my situation, because they tend to bury themselves in the lawn. As mentioned by others, it works best where the surface is even and the brushes have to be adjusted to the right height, so over a large area it will work well in some spots and not as well in others. It also needs to be used before your lawn is too long .It takes some effort to push but is manageable. ( I'm 70 yrs old) Also, as others have mentioned , it is awkward to empty. I stop periodically and just scoop the contents to a yard disposal bag. I would give it a "B". But I confess I am also a perfectionist about my lawn who is learning to accept reality and overall I am pleased with it and would not hesitate to buy it again. What it accomplishes is good enough and makes what was becoming a tedious, totally overwhelming chore at least manageable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well but not perfect The challenge(s) in my home landscape include your basic leaves (does a fine job) but the more insidious remnants of oine trees. These include pine cones and pine needles (long and short). The sweeper kicks the pine cones forward only capturing about 1 in 10; the long needles are capture pretty well except ... (like on a vacuum cleaner rotating brush) they collect and entangle at the ends of the brushes around the drive shaft. This requires stopping after every 2-3 passes to unclog them before the brushes will turn freely again. Some sort of a deflector is needed to prevent anything from getting caught up/wrapped around at those ends. I'll be working on that ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is not advertised enough, wow! Just received. Had a bit of a problem in putting the Handle together. I had to file off all of the coating of the side bars to install top of handle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 26" Push Lawn Sweeper Did not receive the correct number of bolts--1 too few 1 1/4" and 1 too many 1" but made it work. The instructions indicated needing a Philips screwdriver but never needed it however did need a rubber mallet to get the handle bar to fit onto the side bars and for attaching the Palnuts. Tried it out and worked as expected--good amount of leaves being swept up into the bag filling quickly. I know not all would be picked up but what is left is easily picked up with a pass idpf the lawnmower at thevend of the fall season. Seems sturdy enough for multiple uses.
