48 in. Tow Lawn Dethatcher is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 74.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ricknh Bought later in the season and have used only once. If you have Sandy soil, expect a lot of dust. I used it on half of my lawn and decided to wait a few days for the forecasted rain. Finished the lawn a day after the rain with better results. The treatment seemed to perk up the lawn a bit, but will wait until spring when I hit it with an aerator that I have yet to purchase, and some seed/fertilizer. Haven't had any problems with the frame or tines bending while using 70lbs. Assembly took about an hour. Be sure to lay out the various nuts and bolts in groups, look over the instruction and parts before you start, grab a beer and have-at-it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great de-thatcher I used a couple of hex dumbbells for weight and the de-thatcher did an awesome job of pulling all the dead grass and leaves out of my lawn. I experimented with the weights and found that two 35lb dumbbells were to heavy, because it was actually digging into the soil. Two 25lb dumbbells seemed to work very well and they were strapped down with rubber bungee cords. I also cut an old kick ball in half and placed wrapped the pieces around the weights to keep them from scratching the paint.

BASICS: ordered online. fairly easy to put together, if you have some decent tools. took about an hour. CONSTRUCTION: better than average, good for a home/domestic lawn care, but not commercial grade. DESIGN: attaching the tines was most difficult part, as need to use a long screwdriver to bend the tabs to hold the paired tines. don't know how you could fix if a tab broke. also, wheels should be at outside edges of the unit, as it bounced around and danced back and forth, rotating about the wheels. very frustrating. added weight, added more weight, removed weight, adjusted height, and tried everything else that was suggested on the web, but still didn't help. OVERALL: you get what you pay for. i'd return it if it didn't have to bother taking it apart and repacking. mine didn't work like the videos....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works but has to be set perfectly level The tines at the ends came loose multiple times during its first use. I pounded the crud out of the tabs with a 2 lb sled to try and trap the tines to the body but a couple of them didn't barely move. The others did a good job of dethatching but you have to spend a lot of time the first time setting it up perfectly level to work properly. Overall a decent product that could easily be improved with a few changes

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Okay but not the best Bought this dethatcher for my lawn and while using it tends to bounce from end to end while pulling. Even with 2 cinder blocks on top. I do believe due to the wheels not on each end, the dethacher rocks back and fourth, causing chunks of lawn to whip in the air from the end springs. Also the handle that raises the wheel unit, very flimsy metal bent while raising the wheels first time.

While this unit was a bit of a pain to assemble, it works well and easy to operate. It comes completely unassembled with a lot of small parts but they are easy to identify and are well made. the instructions could have been more detailed but.... I recommend you use an elevated work surface as it would be a pain working on the ground. All in all, well worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing works! I have to admit that I was somewhat skeptical as far as how well this piece would work, but I'm a believer now. The only bad part was, I didn't realize just how much thatch it would pull up, and then having to rake all of it up after using the de-thatcher. Now I guess I need to get a lawn sweeper!

My only issue is the handle that is used to raise and lower the wheels does not work very well. Its quite a bear to switch it. Other than that worked well.
