Customer Reviews

48 in. Tow Lawn Dethatcher is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ricknh Bought later in the season and have used only once. If you have Sandy soil, expect a lot of dust. I used it on half of my lawn and decided to wait a few days for the forecasted rain. Finished the lawn a day after the rain with better results. The treatment seemed to perk up the lawn a bit, but will wait until spring when I hit it with an aerator that I have yet to purchase, and some seed/fertilizer. Haven't had any problems with the frame or tines bending while using 70lbs. Assembly took about an hour. Be sure to lay out the various nuts and bolts in groups, look over the instruction and parts before you start, grab a beer and have-at-it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does Surprisingly Well Chose this brand over nearest competitor only because of the lift lever to be able to disengage and tow quickly over driveways. Not too bad for assembly, but the instructions are weak. Would have been willing to pay more for the tines to have bolts securing them, rather than the cheapy metal bend tabs. Not well boxed for shipping. One end was broken open and I was surprised to find all the parts in there. Good basic machine. I have used the more expensive model made by JD and this did just as good of a job. I added two blocks for weight and used it to scarify the ground for seeding. Very nice. You wont be disappointed....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good job dethatching This does a pretty good job of loosening lawn thatch although I think it could be better if it had more tines. Keep in mind that after the thatch is loose, you still need to get it off of your lawn by raking mostly, I've tried going over it with my rear bag riding mower which didn't get much of the loose thatch out of my fescue lawn. Not sure if a lawn sweeper with dethatcher could do a better job of it as I've seen on youtube.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lawn dethatcher Box arrived on time and intact. No parts missing and for me found it easy to assembly. I have a old Murray 40" riding lawn mower and it has no problem pulling it. To keep it from bouncing you will need to at least put 20 lbs on some kind of weight on it. Does a good job of dethatching my yard. Only time will tell how it will hold up with use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very sturdy design. You need to add weight to the unit to get the best results for your lawn, i.e. add cement blocks for weight. Once put together, the unit works very well. I bought the larger unit as I have over two acres of lawn to cover. You need to add weight to the unit to get the best results. The only draw back is that the instructions to put it together are a little sketchy. A U-tube video link or better assembly instruction would be very helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product for price. Worked as expected. Used on 2 acre minor league baseball field to remove surface thatch after winter and impressed with results. Removed lots of material and field looked greener after cleanup. Added some sandbags to stabilize rake and that definitely helped. Would recommend.
