how does this spreader work and can you use it to spread lawn furtilizer

It does not work very well. Dry seed is OK. Fertilizer is a battle. It hangs the slide up.

Can I use rock salt with this spreader?

Asked by: Manager
Thank you for considering the 50 pound Agri-Fab spreader for your winter care needs. Rock salt is not recommended for any Agri-Fab spreader due to its corrosive nature. We, at Agri-Fab, recommend ice melt in our broadcast spreaders.

Capacity seems good enough, but this thing is meant for very small, very flat lawns ONLY! The wheels, being plastic, are unable to traverse even the fairest of bumps, ruts, and hills. The spreader itself works well when it feels like it, but has a problem of clogging quickly, a problem that is impossible to rectify. I swear, I don't think the numbers on the handle mean what they think it means. But the worst part of all is that the handles bent around the frame after two uses. It's not attached at more than one point on either side, and is held in place by the cheap, flimsy plastic bucket the spread is loaded into. With even a small amount of force, it bends, allowing the handles to swing upwards. At this point, the attachment point is worthless, and it dumps the entire bucket out into your lawn. Buy something that isn't made of plastic, doesn't have plastic wheels, and, most importantly, is designed even half competently. At least it worked well before it broke.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wide Open The only complaint I have with this product is that the controls for the adjustable hopper don't work very well. When trying to change the flow level, the latch at the bottom of the hopper sticks, so you have to manually open or close it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lasts for about 3 years This product works really well for a year or two. Last year, the lever started to stuck that regulated the grass seed flow. When I took the spreader out of our garage this year, one of the wheels wouldn't turn. Based on my experience, I can't recommend this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not impressed with this product The axle and wheels may be the only redeeming quality of this product. The product is cheeply made, not very sturdy and the controls/regulator havent worked properly since day 1.
