bought this product and assembled it with ease. started looking at the slide at bottom of the hopper and it would open wider and narrower every time when the control lever was set to the same number. went ahead and used it with milorgnite so i wasn't afraid of burning if i over applied. some times i would set it to three and nothing would come out. the thing is garbage to me since i could not trust it for a product that could burn the lawn. very disappointed

Purchased this broadcast spreader because of the construction, convenient size and wheels. Looked like a good industrial type spreader, but I'm very disappointed with the flow control mechanism. It sticks, isn't consistent and the lever is cheap plastic that broke on the first use. The stop never holds and you end up spilling more material on the lawn that then burns out the grass. How could you make such a well built spreader and then mess up the flow control - the most important part of the spreader? If there is some way to repair or replace this mechanism I'd love to find out about it. I can't afford to use the spreader and burn out more lawn than I'm trying to treat. It is a real shame. If I would have know this ahead of time I would never have purchased this product. I'd pay for the plastic wheels on the other spreaders with reliable flow control than waste your money on this one.

Bought the push spreader on 4/2/2014 and on the 3rd time of using it the plastic control lever brakes.I agree with the other reviews, the overall product is ok,but the plastic lever is so cheap. How many more times is this part going to need replaced in the spreaders life time?

I see others are having the same problem with the substandard control leaver breaking...metal parts would have been a good choice for an otherwise well built spreader..a twenty year spreader with a three year plastic dependent controller...

Initially happy with this product but fairly quickly the plastic control lever snapped. Good spreader ruined by cheap plastic lever. Not up to standard required f or a piece of equipment of this price.

I have to give Agri-Fab 5 stars for their response to my previous review. They read my review, immediately contacted me and went out of their way to send my replacement part free.
I got the spreader together and working. I am happy with the spreader operation. Nice balance and easy operation and setting. Good throw distance to the sides.
I did have trouble with the back support feet catching and ripping out my St Augustine so I bent the flattened foot portion 180° towards the back. That works fine now. I also changed the R-clip in the feeder basket that rotates around. It is too far from the feed opening. I used a longer one that sweeps over the flow control slide plate and clears jams better.

Very disappointed. The hopper wheels and closure plate are good but the CHEAP lightweight frame is junk! Plus the handle bar is two piece with only one screw on each side to connect them and the butterfly nuts they give you are plastic so you can not get them tight, which is probably by design because if you did get them tight you would bend the CHEAP lightweight tubing. So the handle bar is never tightly secure so every time you push the spreader the two piece handlebar wants to bend and will eventually break and I never put more than 40lbs. of fertilizer in it at a time. The flow rate lever wont stay in place either. JUNK!

Crimped end of axle was not made correctly. I had to reform it in a vise to attach the wheel. The feeder gate is plastic and attaches to the stiff control cable via a small hole in the plastic gate. Slight twisting of the cable during assembly snapped the gate. $5 min order for parts and $6 shipping just added $11 to the cost. The rear support legs have a hooked foot pointing forward. I foresee those snagging on the grass as I walk. I'll have to bend those the opposite way.
