can this be used to till up existing grass?

I want to till the soil that has existing buffalo grass and plant a different type of grass. Will this break up the soil and if so, how deep?
Asked by: Anonymous
I used it to rip out all the exiting grass in the spot I am putting my garden at. the claws will get clogged up and it will take some time but it will get the job done. depends on how packed the soil is my sinks in about 2'' with cinder blocks added for the weight. it will take a while and multiple passes to get it all out.

Can I add more weight to this if necessary?

Is there a place were I can attach, perhaps, a cinder block to add more weight is necessary?
Asked by: OffGridMama
Yes I added concrete blocks and held them in place with bungee straps

Agri-Fab Sleeve Hitch Row Crop Cultivat can this be uesed to make garden rows

Asked by: Anonymous
it didn't work for rows for me, it broke the ground up nicely. But the ground I was doing had never been worked before and was extremely packed. if your soil has been I believe it might make rows with some good weight on it.

Sleeve Hitch Row Crop Cultivator is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Did well so far I got this to trench out long ditches for a French drain system. It digs in well with weight on it 3 solid 8 inch blocks. I know it is not intended for this use and stop often to remove dirt it loosened. I removed the height adjustment and just let it dig all the way in and nothing bent or broke. Pulled with a 22hp Cub W/ chevron tread tractor tires not Turf savers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Agri-Fab - Sleeve Hitch Row Crop Cultivator I bought this unit last summer 2016, to scrape my house main entrance . It was a very hard work (lots of rock granules and solid sand ) . With patience and lots of time to extract all material (---about a month 5 days a week). No tool breakage, very good tool to work with it. Sorry, I do not have photo...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gravel drive face lift I used this so far to till up my gravel driveway and re level it. I hade ruts from the cars and this was a way cheaper way of correcting the problem instead of buying gravel. It worked good enough to impress the wife, so that tells you something.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good drag I needed somthing to build some small food plots. It was not the miracle that I was hoping for but it did work with a little bit of effort. In fairness, I was digging up some turf/weeded paths with nothing more than a mowing to prep them. It took a lot of passes with 3 cinder blocks added for weight but eventually I got it down to fresh dirt and now have a nice plot coming in. I switched off dragging this with my ATV and 24hp Cub Cadet- neither have a sleeve hitch but tractor supply stocks an 8" pin to accommodate the size. Worth noting that the short tongue on this requires wide turns, don't expect to make a u-turn in under 20' of space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly effective affordable tool . This is a good little tool , fits right in with my other AgriFab tools . The garden got bigger as I got older and I finally gave in to mechanical cultivation . Why did I wait so long ??? A little experimentation lost me only a few plants but when I figured it out , for my sandy soil , it did / does a very good job of cultivation . Also , when all seven tines are in place this does a great job digging quack grass . The only weak spot I see is the gauge of the frame members , just a little thin , but hey ! it doesn't cost in the thousands does it ? Another gold star for A-Fab for making tools we can afford , and which work well . My micro farm is happy , and I would highly reccomend this to anyone with a medium to larger garden like my 6000 square feet.
