Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by GAHeel Gearbox malfunctioned
After one use, the gearbox malfunctioned. I used it to spread Amdro fire ant bait over about 1 acre. It worked fine for that. Yesterday, I tried to put down some pre-emergent herbicide. The flywheel, or whatever it's called, in the bottom of the spreader will spin, but the "thrower" device only spins intermittently. If I get out and kick it, or jerk the mower back and forth, roughly, a couple of times, the gears will re-engage and the granules get kicked out like they're supposed to. I rode around half my yard yesterday not realizing that the thrower part wasn't spinning, resulting in a narrow line of herbicide about 3 inches wide being distributed in my yard, instead of the 8-10 feet spread radius you're supposed to get.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Justme I bought this to spread clover seed and fertilizer on a 10 acre field. It minimally served the purpose but was not what I would call a precise or accurate machine. It is fairly durable and a decent product for the price and a fair value for its price range. However, if you are serious about getting a precise distribution or highly accurate application rate you'll need to look to a different category of product.
The spreader comes with clear assembly instructions and takes about 60 minutes to assemble completely. The quality of the parts is fairly good with the exception of the lever control housing, which is made of metal too thin/light for the stress this unit endures in a field environment (in my case it bent/warped on the outer side of the lever channel after 1 hour of use spreading on rough ground; it still works but is not perfectly aligned). The lever return spring is also barely strong enough for the intended duty. Despite attempts to adjust the tension, the lever needed to be manually pulled forward to the stop position when distributing. It would also be nice if the hitch was adaptable to different pull mechanisms, or at least had the ability to adapt to different pull heights of the operating vehicle. I had to rig an adapter to get it to pull level behind my lawn tractor (pull height was about 2" too high for my hitch).
The wheels, axle, frame, and hopper are all sturdy and very serviceable. The distribution rate per unit of travel is pretty uniform, although the distribution of small seeds for me (inoculated clovers) was not even, with significantly more volume going to the left than to the right on each pass, despite attempts to correct this by adjusting hopper flow rates and changing vehicle speeds.
The casual large lawn/garden user that can tolerate a moderate lack of precision and uniformity may find this product serviceable, but for me it wasn't capable of an accurate seed or fertilizer distribution for light duty agricultural applications over multiple acres of pasture ground.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bigfox Hard to empty product from hopper doesn't flow easly out when reaches certin point.
I had to stop several times to move material down the sides so it would flow out opening. Needs better design to get material to keep flowing until hopper is empty!
Quality rating is based on sturdiness of the product.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by aaron Good Value, Bad packaging
Once assembled this spreader worked great. It was stable and easy to use. Hardware packaging is ridiculous, everything is just tossed into one bag and takes about twenty minutes just to sort out what is what.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bryanzzz Bought to spread fertilizer and plant food plots
Good spreader for the money, for guys or gals planting food plots I would recommend. The opening will adjust wide enough to plant oats...some spreaders with 3 or more holes at discharge have a hard time with large seed. Shuts off completely, could probably throw clover seed and other small seeds....with discharge adjusted properly during assembly. Tow slow over turned land, could tip over, I had no problem with hopper half full. Over my years...planting food plots primarily this may be the best I have purchased. Note, plastic covering gearbox...I drilled a small hole into plastic housing to be able to spray lithium grease on gears without disassembly, cover hole with duct tape to make maintenance easy.
