Customer Reviews

SmartSpreader 130 lb. Tow Spreader is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 104.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Out of Control Lawn fertilizer keeps spewing out of this thing even when you stop moving. You have to be very fast to slide the handle to off - but even then, the remainder of the fertilizer on the broadcaster falls straight down on the grass - where it will kill the grass. The control lever pops out of the off position from vibration and starts spewing out fertilizer even when you don’t want it. I have to pull this thing by hand because you can’t reach around fast enough to shut off the control lever. I constructed a special handle for pulling the Agri-Fab by hand. I think I’ll have to place it on the sidewalk with a FREE sign on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought to spread fertilizer and plant food plots Good spreader for the money, for guys or gals planting food plots I would recommend. The opening will adjust wide enough to plant oats...some spreaders with 3 or more holes at discharge have a hard time with large seed. Shuts off completely, could probably throw clover seed and other small seeds....with discharge adjusted properly during assembly. Tow slow over turned land, could tip over, I had no problem with hopper half full. Over my years...planting food plots primarily this may be the best I have purchased. Note, plastic covering gearbox...I drilled a small hole into plastic housing to be able to spray lithium grease on gears without disassembly, cover hole with duct tape to make maintenance easy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice features. instructions a bit sketchy Purchased 2 weeks ago. Assembly a bit rough. I spent 3 hours and redid a couple of things because of poor instructions.Everything fit OK, but directions poor and pictures of assembly needed more closeups. Absolutely no extra parts for assembly. Spreader seems good, have not used it yet, but it seems to work well and holds enough product that on my 1 acre yard, I do not have to reload. I think there is too much plastic for the price and I am a little concerned about the flow selector and product chute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just finished assembly Purchased this to tow behind my lawn tractor because I have about .5 acre of grass and am tired of pushing a spreader. Assembly went well with only a couple of do overs due to my simple parts mistakes. Everything went together as directed and the finished product looks very sturdy. I did lube the gears before assembly as many others had suggested. Only 1 part was defective and it was a lock nut that did not have the nylon insert in it. No big deal. Otherwise done & ready to go this spring.

Assembly was no problem and parts are excellent quality. The spreader worked fine on the first use, except it did not empty completely. There was, about, 2 ups of material left in the hopper. I have an X2 Cub Cadet and the hitcher sits a little low.I think reversing the hitch assembly, on the spreader, will give me the extra height I need. Overall it is an excellent piece of equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Favorite Yard Toy I bought this to speed up the process of fertilizing three very large lawns for various family members. Assembling the "130 lb. Tow Spreader" by myself was a breeze, as I began by laying out all components exactly how they were shown in the directions diagram. This made them easy to locate when needed. All pieces fit perfectly, and directions were specific as to when to "completely tighten" nuts, and when to leave them temporarily loose for future steps. I finally was able to use the spreader yesterday for the first time, and IT WORKED FANTASTIC!!! Cut my spreading time from approximately six hours to just under an hour and a half. The plastic bin easily held a 15,000 sq. ft. bag of fertilizer and three 5,000 sq. ft. bags of crabgrass killer, all at the same time. I repeated that process two more times and completed all three yards in record time of 1 1/2 hours!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Spreader I had a smaller agri-fab spreader that did not work very well and didn't have the capacity. This one has the controls where I can easily use them, and so far the sliding stop plate has not hung up yet. I have only used it once last fall but will get alot of use this year as I fertilize 2.5 acres monthly during the growing season. For the price it was an easy choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great towable spreader Having a large property prompted me to find an easier way to fertilize and maintain the nutritional needs of my lawn. This item was just the ticket. Towable, large capacity, controllable with the ease of flow adjustments. This spreader ended my countless hours of pushing a lawn spreader, usually with difficulty and tiresome effort.
