Do you need to install a wall switch or can you just let the humidity sensing switch run the unit without a wall switch?
Asked by: AG
From the item description it sounds like the fan runs continually in the lower speed mode until moisture is detected and then it ramps up to the higher speed. I think you only need to install a switch if you want to physically turn it off for some reason.

I have no window in my bathroom, and I live in an apartment building. Will this work?

Asked by: wanda
If you are replacing an existing ceiling fan you should be fine. There is no connection between having a window in a bathroom and having a ceiling fan work. It requires electricity and a vent to move moist air out of your bathroom. If you don't have an existing fan then you may find it difficult to run a vent from the bathroom ceiling to the outside. You can always try mounting a "box" fan in your window opening and ventilating moist air that way. Also, landlords probably don't want renters chopping up their bathroom ceilings so the box fan might be your best option.

Customer Reviews

130 CFM Ceiling Single Speed Humidity Sensing Exhaust Fan is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from worked for 2 months then the motor got disaligned First the humidity sensor used by airking is not working well. I placed a digital thermometer with humidity sensing and it never started at the humidity set point, and sometimes it never stopped. Airking was contacted, they suggested the sensor may be bad so they sent a replacement. It worked better than the first sensor but still unreliable I had to turn the humidity sensor way up so that it can be stopped at 65% humidity, but when I was showering it did not start at 65%RH it started at around 70%. So the trick I used was to turn it on manually and then after finish showering turn it to automatic so that the forced air let the sensor take humidity and automatic switch on. The second problem I had is that some day that it did not stopped most of the day, it started to make a grinding sound, it looks like the vent start getting out of alignment and rubbing. I am going to return it to store thanks to Homedepot return policy, and purchase a different brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The 2nd One Works Perfectly! The first fan I received was faulty. It made a loud clacking sound and a whistling noise. The friend who installed it said the fan was hitting the "squirrel cage", and so causing the noise. I left the first fan in while reordering another, so that I still had a fan and not a large hole in my ceiling. The second fan arrived, but the box was dented in a few places, as though it was dropped or something dropped on it. When I opened the box, the fan seemed fine but the grill cover was scratched up a bit. The second fan worked fine, I exchanged the scratched cover on it with the first fan's cover, and the replacement fan has worked as I had hoped for the last month +. Pros: Very quiet; I can barely hear it come on. It does the job of sensing when the room is too humid, and it turns on and off by itself. I haven't seen any black mold forming in my bathroom, which was a major problem in the past. It's energy efficient. I received a discount off the original price when I had to reorder another fan. Cons: Lack of care in shipping. Having to reorder another fan because the first one was faulty. Now that I have a good working fan, I'm very happy I bought it!
