Answer:
After purchasing based on the feedback my question received I was disappointed to discover it is actually 0.8 Sones. I have contacted Home Depot and been told they will work to resolve the misinformation on the description.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 24 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice and quiet Replacing 25 year old similar model with ease. Trimmed a slightly larger opening, wired and plumbed. Quiet practical update with energy star rating! May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Doesnt SUCK that bad Product was easy to install and is not loud. I doesnt move a lot of air as expected with 50cfm. The white part seems like it will easily break after removing a few times if needed though. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very quiet and looks great nice looking and quiet. nothing else to say................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really quiet Not too hard to assemble and was quiet. We were searching for the quietest fan December 17, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Quiet, BUT Quietest fan I ever heard. If your priority is quiet this is the fan for you. Nice light, BUT two things to consider. 1) my bathroom is 45 sq ft and it does an OK job with a hot shower. I would recommend the 70 CFM 1.5 sones fan which is intended for a larger room. 2) easy install for new construction, but if you're replacing a fan and cutting through the ceiling you must cut a larger hole to get it through the ceiling to snap it into the bracket. You can't just swing it up into the bracket unless you do so. To avoid moisture creating mold in the larger opening you'll need to patch it closed around the fan. Even though the cover with light is large enough to cover this opening you don't want moisture going into the ceiling, attic or insulation. Despite these two points, I highly recommend this fan. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solid fan light The fan installed into the old cutout without much difficulty. Anyone with average carpentry and electrical skills can do it. The light isn't as bright as an incandescent but it is adequate and saves energy over the long haul. This is a much quieter unit than the Nutone it replaced which is important because it's mounted on a floor joist beneath a second floor bedroom. The old fan noise was audible upstairs, this isn't. I'd purchase another one as soon as I need it. March 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet Wanted something other than your standard builder grade for our new home and this product fit the bill without breaking the bank. Installs easily and is super quiet. April 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product Very simple to install. Replaced fan only with this fan and light. Not a big unit, since it is in a small bathroom, but super quiet. Perfect for what I wanted and excellent performance. March 3, 2015
