The fan installed into the old cutout without much difficulty. Anyone with average carpentry and electrical skills can do it. The light isn't as bright as an incandescent but it is adequate and saves energy over the long haul. This is a much quieter unit than the Nutone it replaced which is important because it's mounted on a floor joist beneath a second floor bedroom. The old fan noise was audible upstairs, this isn't. I'd purchase another one as soon as I need it.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by rdeal35 should have got the 70cfm
I bought this fan for my daughters bathroom and a 70cfm for my bathroom.
50cfm should had been enough for her bathroom because its 5x8.5ft. i did the toilet paper test(where you but a piece of tp on the vent to see if it holds. well, it holds once out of 6 times i try. I wasnt expecting this product to be as strong as the 70cfm of course, but this 50cfm has as much suction as an asthmatic. i would guess its closer to 30cfm. I may return it and get another 70cfm for $10 more

Very simple to install. Replaced fan only with this fan and light. Not a big unit, since it is in a small bathroom, but super quiet. Perfect for what I wanted and excellent performance.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MKW1 Excellent Choice for Existing Construction
This is the only fan I have found that is relatively easy to install from below. There isnt a template for cutting or enlarging the hole for the housing so you have to be a bit handy, Also, you have to work with the existing duct work and electrical so that can be a trick if it isnt long enough.
I note for the money, this is far better than other products out there.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lcutie Just what I needed!
I am renovating a small bathroom and needed a quiet low profile exhaust fan that could be installed over the shower. What a great product, it is UL listed, small profile ( so it fits in even the most tightest of places). Installation could have not been any easier. Also found a Broan vent kit at Home Depot at a great price. There were other exhaust fans that were slightly cheaper but quiet use and having an energy star rating, made the slight increase in price a great decision. Only .5 Sones, which matters when doing such a small room.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cincy81 Quiet, good for new construction, not the best design for replacement.
I installed this light a couple weeks ago and I've been happy with it thus far. I replaced an existing, noisy fan in my small master bathroom. The old fan was smaller so we had to cut out the drywall to fit the fan in. The design wasn't very beneficial for replacement. It was difficult to get the fan secured in the hole and we almost had to make the hole too big to be covered to get it in. It was difficult with the exhaust pipe sticking out to get it in the hole and attach the plastic housing to the lip on the metal bracket. It took some time and more cutting, but we were able to get it in the hole and secured. The fan did have a rattling noise when first installed, but once we got into the attic and hooked up the tubing for the vent it subsided. Overall it's a quiet fan, with a pretty bright light, and it looks nice. If I decide to replace the fan in my other bathroom I would probably go with this same one because it's quiet and I like that it has a light with it as well.

Bought (2) fans as replacements. Both fans were easy to install and are super quiet.
