Customer Questions & Answers

Can the venting be installed with flexible dryer vent material?

Can the venting be installed with flexible dryer vent material?
Asked by: Stuck
Yes flex material its fine, as long as you keep it straigh with no slack and vent as short as possible. With a 70 CFM fan you should at least get 50 CFM out of it after venting, that's all the ventilation your bathroom requires. Also good practice to insulate the vent pipe with R8 Flex duct insulation, to prevent condensation.

Can this be installed as a wall fan rather than a ceiling fan?

Can this be installed as a wall fan rather than a ceiling fan?
Asked by: Willie
I don't see why not as long as the wall is deep enough. The other thing you have to take into consideration is the flapper on the output of the fan. Be sure it isn't turned in a direction that would prevent it from closing once the fan is off. Although that's not critical, you could get blow back from outside if the flapper doesn't close fully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Air-King-High-Performance-70-CFM-Ceiling-Exhaust-Bath-F Easy to install. Works extremely well! So quiet you can hardly tell its on! This produce exceeded my expectation! We installed this exhaust fan in a smaller bathroom because the 50 CFM could not clear steam from the shower! The Air King does the job and is so quiet at 1.5 sones. Energy Star. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from High Performance 70 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan, ENERGY STAR* This fan is NOT an easy job to install from ceiling side. A large cutout must be used to get the vent hooked up and that means a small drywall patch. The vent cover retaining springs on mine are too weak. As the fan runs the vent cover lowers itself. This probably would not happen with a wall install. Mfg has no fix for this. It is 1.5 soanes so it is a little loud but not bad enough to remove. I also had to do a workaround when the unit would not snap into the frame and stay there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I have installed many bath fans over the years. This model is a very good value, made well, and should last a long time. This was a replacement for an existing fan. The ceiling opening was enlarged, bracket installed, connect power, duct. The fan snapped into the mounting bracket just fine. From the bathroom, not the attic. It is a easy installation, 30 minutes. Took longer to clean up. This unit CAN be installed in an finished ceiling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bath fan - replacement of builder grade I bought 2 to replace 20 year old builder grade bath fans. These are so much quieter than the others ever were. We also noticed much better exhausting, especially after replacing the old 3" duct with 4" duct. Installation required cutting a bigger ceiling opening. The fan tilts into the mounting bracket which required the opening to be larger on 2 sides than the housing, but is hidden by the grille. I patched the oversize opening afterward. I feel Installation in a ceiling without access from above would be much more difficult, because the duct comes off the side of the housing low, so lining everything up without the duct pinching the top of the ceiling while trying to tilt it in place would be frustrating. Installation is why I only gave 4 instead of 5 stars
