Customer Questions & Answers

Is the light dimmable

Are there separate connections for fan and light and, if so, is the light dimmable?
Asked by: Chris
i'm not a electrician but I would think you can dim the light with a dim-able switch on the wall

Replace a light fixture?

Can this unit be used to replace a ceiling light with no exhaust fan in the bathroom (our bathroom currently has no exhaust fan)?
Asked by: Adam
No it can't replace a ceiling light because it doesn't work, the instructions are useless, and Home Depot won't help. I wasted a Sunday morning. Don't you do the same.

Do the light and fan have to be wired separately or can one switch turn on both the light and fan at the same time?

Asked by: Haasmn
I'm not a electrician but I would thing you can wire both together. I wired my separately because I did not wish the fan to be on all the time

It wasn't the fault of the unit because I find it difficult to install a fan without some attic work

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I bought this fan to replace an older loud fan. This fan needed a bigger hole but I knew that before I bought it; it's easy to create a bigger hole harder to make a smaller hole! This fan is not feature packed but it is quiet and moves enough air that our bathroom mirror doesn’t even have steam after a short shower (longer showers are cleared a few minutes after you turn the water off). I was so impressed by the quietness and effectiveness that I plan to buy another one for our other bathroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleek design, fairly quiet fan, good light We installed this about a year ago in a renovated small bathroom, and have been very pleased with its sleek modern design and fairly quiet fan - a great value! HOW TO CHANGE LIGHT BULB: Press inward on the sides of the translucent cover over the bulb, and the cover will come off easily. It only takes 1 person to change the light bulb. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as expected so far It was installed two weeks ago and works as expected so far. Too early to comment on durability. Lamp-and-Fan-in- one replaces the previous lamp-set in one location -- no extra hole to dig in the ceiling. The rated 1.5 sones unit that I have is a bit noisy to me. The GU24 bulb used is not a popular type to be maintained. P.S. Though no one mentioned this, but make sure your bathroom door bottom has enough gap to allow the needed fresh air to come in to ensure the best air flow efficiency.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick installation but flourescent light needs replacing. This was very easy to install as a replacement for an original fan. Really liked the bracket mount that screws to the joist then allows the fan to be snapped into place. The negative was the non-standard fluorescent light. It has two pins that insert into the socket and twist. Local stores don't stock replacements. I replaced the lamp socket with a standard light socket. I replaced the toxic mercury containing fluorescent light with an led light that is cool running and efficient.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Yes it's quiet. But I suspect that's because it's not moving as much air as claimed. It does not do as good a job as the 35-year-old fan it replaced. Before it wore out the old fan (also rated 70 CFM) would keep the mirrors clear during a shower. This one does not. It also uses GU24 bulbs that are expensive to replace. For the money I expected better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk Will be disassembling this and returning to the store. Total waste of time and money spent. Our previous fan was much better and was many years older. Took my husband 2.5 hours to install with several trips into the attic - not a simple install to replace a current fan. Tested with the tissue and it doesn't hold it. Son took a shower this morning, and there's condensation on all the walls and ceiling. Ugh!!!
