Customer Questions & Answers

How to clean filters.

What kind of filters does it have. Can they be removed for washing. Are the filters dish washer safe.
Asked by: DeltaDawn
this is a washable metal filter that looks like woven aluminum. I would soak in a degreaser and not put in a dishwasher. gently scrub it and air dry outside. I do not think a dishwasher would hurt it but the grease is not good for your system especially a septic tank like mine. the filter is easy to get in and out.

How do you cover the wires so they are not exposed?

We did not receive any type of plate that covers the exposed wires. Is there a part missing from our box which is used to hide the wires? Having it open like this is en eyesore.

The front black panel which holds the vent cover for use without an exhaust has never fully sealed. Air just gets sucked in and back into the kitchen. Tried duct taping it closed, but then the whole plastic part broke. Need to get a new one. Not worth the price. I'm gonna go higher quality next time!

As for looks alone, it is fine. the fan is a bit cheesy and noisy on high but does ok about half speed. I replaced an old hood dated 1982. the installation if not difficult but i recommend you get a pro to help. this is designed primarily to vent to the wall but mine vents straight up through the cabinets. we had to get some extra fitting to make this work. It can go both ways. the price is great and it works ok. when i first turned on the fan it make a terrible noise and discovered the fan was not set inside the hood properly possibly my fault. Once this was adjusted, the fan is ok. I think will do fine for 20 years if the fan does not act up. the light has a high and low and very nice. overall is good and good value. If you want the best and willing to pay more,, you may want to look at something more expensive. I do recommend this for the price point. If you are doing a $10 000 rehab , go ahead and pay another $100 and get something better. I believe this model can be vented inside the kitchen but mine is vented to the attic. In newer construction, the vent blows inside the wall and leaves the unit at 90 degree angle which is the simplest way to install the vent. If you vent straight up, the adapters do not come with this unit. Pay attention here.

Top, rear, and re-circ options are great. Simple to mount and wire. The "quiet" not so much. I don't mind it though because it moves a lot of air. Even when ducted to re-circ, the charcoal / grease filter combo eliminates some odor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible. Multiple missing pieces, poor quality filter arrived damaged from factory. Having to contact them to get 3 pieces shipped that were not included, but were supposed to be. Parts missing are same parts multiple other reviewers mentioned, the damper frame, damper, and wire compartment cover. The grill and vent cover included are a joke, I had to duct tape the front vent to keep air from blowing out the front of the unit even after being properly vented, and the vent cover refused to stay in place as it's just a flat piece of plastic that has no guides or tab to mount in place. The fan filter cover is also very cheap very flimsy aluminum, and was bent and smashed when I got it. Would expect this poor quality from a landfill, the 35+ year old unit was a better deal than this replacement. I wouldn't pay a double digit price for this product. Buyer beware, I will never purchase another product from this company again.
