How much is way too much?
It depends on the plant and where it is planted. If it is a potted plant, I would recommend re-potting and re-soiling. If it is in the ground, you should probably be ok if you give the area a heavy soak. It depends on the heartiness of the plant and its reaction to this particular fertilizer. Good luck.

The most likely result of adding too much of the Alaska 5-1-1 to a plant is that the over application of nitrogen will result in "burning." The plant would have wilted appearance and if it's severe enough could die. This may not happen as a gallon of Alaska 5-1-1 has a total nitrogen content of 5%. I don't know what the "best" way is, but this way works for me.
I will put about a jigger in a gallon can of water. Make sure it is blended. To to that, I put the jigger in a quart jug, fill the rest with water and shake until it's blended. It will kind of look like Yoo-Hoo. Then I dump the quart into a gallon watering can and fill the rest with water. Trees can take more. Flowers, maybe a little less. Read More

Hello,
The best way to apply the Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1 is to use a dial and spray attachment. Please shake product well before mixing. If you are using the product in a smaller area a watering can will work well. Please follow the label accordingly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good product This has to be the best price out there for a gallon of fish emulsion and it ships to the local HD for free!! Cant beat that.. I go through about a gallon of this Alaska brand fish fertilizer a season. I use it in my gallon sprayer , also add to a 5 gallon bucket of water and pour around newly planted plants. Yes it does stink but I would rather have a couple hours of smell than knowingly dump chemical fertilizer on my plants. Just saying... July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Purchase Ever. Excellent product, my potted plants especially love this stuff. And your Company has great prices. Thanks so much and God bless, and i am out of it already, have to order more. July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best fertilizer to compliment other fertilizer best fertilizer for tomatoes if used right with other products. August 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Clogs sprayers I bought this product because I could get it locally and it was cheaper than other fish emulsion sprays I've used. Not worth it. This product clogs the screens on hose-end sprayers. I own two sprayers (intended to dilute fertilizer when the water is sprayed) and both were clogged within a few minutes. The screen on the intake shows little flakes stuck in it and the product is gloppy enough not to flow through the screen. It's a real pain because you then have to deal with disassembling the sprayers and handling the brown, condensed fish emulsion which is pretty nasty. I now have 3/4 gallon of fish gunk I have to dole out at a rate of 2 tablespoons/ gallon water. I had much better luck with Neptunes and Fetrell's fish fertilizer... used the same sprayers with no problem and great responses from the plants. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by What I needed The product was just what I wanted and ordered. The only problem was getting waited on in the customer pick-up area. August 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by tobacco plants love this other than shaking the cheese whiz out of it before every dilution this is great fertilizer, doesn't burn and almost no phosphates, and no phosphates is critical for raising tobacco because they are a carcinogen; essential for raising tobacco July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Plants grow! I saw a significant improvement in my plants soon after I used this product. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent source for growing a natural garden This fish emulsion works well to keep my plants in good shape and healthy. I don't like using chemicals and have found that this is a very good natural way, like the way the Native Americans used to plant their vegetables. June 13, 2016
