Answer:
The trim comes with two extension springs. The lower end of each spring hooks into small holes in the very top of the trim. The upper end of each spring needs to be hooked into something inside the recessed can. In many cases, there is a circular plate inside the can that holds the light socket. There are a number of holes in this circular plate that can accommodate the upper end of each spring.

The trim ring is slightly larger than that, but I think you will have a difficult time centering it to prevent any of the hole from showing. The springs that hold the trim in place tend to want to center the trim, so if the housing is not right in the center of your 7-1/4" hole, you may not get it to stay where you want it. I find that if you don't have it right in the center, normal vibration in a house will cause it to find a location it's happy with. These are cheap enough that I would go ahead and order one to see if it works first. HD will always take them back anyway. Your only option will be to fill the margin between the housing and ceiling with sheetrock mud which wont'; be any fun at all. Read Less

Answer:
6 1/4 in hole would have been sufficient. The APERT707WHT baffle and trim has two trim rings--7 1/4 and 8 inches. The 8 in. trim ring should cover the over sized hole if you center the housing .

Answer:
Hello,
This 6 inch trim comes in narrow version and wide version. The narrow version has an outer diameter of 1.25 inch added to the trim. The wide version has an outer diameter of 2 inch. If the size of the hole on the ceiling is 7 1/4", it is better to get the wider version that is 8 inches in diameter to completely cover the hole.

Answer:
As long as they have the same style base and will fit the fixture, sure. LED's can be dimmed, unlike CFL's, so no worries there. They also use a fraction of the energy, so it's nearly impossible to use an LED that will exceed whatever its incandescent rating is.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best for the buck I have bought the ones in the store for 3x as much and this is similar in quality. So I was happy when this came out as deal of the day. Wish they had one for brushed nickel. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by replace light trim I replaced our old can light trim with these white on white trim sets. Our old trim had black inside, this one is white. With the same bulbs the lights appear much brighter. Easy to remove the old and replace with the new. June 21, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Shipped fast, easy to install We just took out the old baffle and trim, put the new ones in! Very easy to do, we did not even need any tools. The old trims were yellow and now everything looks like new again:) June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding value . . . why pay more?! Just like the review title says, why pay more for a recessed light baffle/trim kit when you don't have to. Great quality of product, easy to install, and fast shipping. Thanks HOME DEPOT! Note: We used the narrow trim ring. December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by White Baffle and trim Compared to to big name brand these are a great value. After I got the hang of the first one (12 minutes) the other five were a snap. Two trims 4 and 6 inch add to the value. Saved over twenty dollars on the set of six. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Instant room update! I replaced 30 recessed light trim baffles in an afternoon. I ordered these on a Monday night at 9:00 p.m. and received them on Wednesday! Talk about quick delivery....this was the best. All of my light fixtures had yellowed over time and this was a cheap instant update. You will not be disappointed. June 9, 2016
