Customer Questions & Answers

what is the total width of the gate if I use 2 posts attachted to the concrete?

My opening is 48", however the brick pillars are not smooth faced, they are very textured with no two being the same. So I am trying to figure out if I should use 48" gate with 2 posts or a 36" gate with two posts.
Asked by: Larry
There is 6ft between two posts. For the gate entrance, it's 3ft wide.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Aluminum gate We wanted a black aluminum plain styled gate for the entry to our front patio, when we saw this online, we purchased it and hoped that it would be of good quality. The gate arrived promptly, in good condition, and met our expectation in being made well. Because it is aluminum, it won't rust, and it is light weight, so it was easy to hang.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Out of square The gate looked great when I took it out the box. Hanging it was a breeze. Then I stepped back to admire it and something was not level. I first assumed it was the fence panel on the right. Then I inspected the gate. The top rail was a welded a half inch lower on the right side post. This made it off level and is something that cannot be fixed. I'm going to contact the manufacturer for a resolution.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent quality, lightweight, instructions could be better. Very pleased with the quality, sturdiness, and lightweight features. Spent too much time trying to figure out the hinges since the instructions showed a screwdriver in the pin slot but didn't say why. After much experimentation, realized that if you insert a screwdriver in the slot in the pin, push down and twist, you can adjust the spring tension in the self closing hinges. Pretty nifty. Gate itself is perfect to keep my Corgi in and to provide a physiological barrier to keep the winter deer out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Attractive but Flexible The gate looks good and does its job adequately but the problem with the "consumer" grade gate is that it is really rather flexible. I won't say it is flimsy, it is adequate for keeping dogs and kids in etc. but when the spring loaded hinge slams it shut the gate reverberates quite a bit, in a manner that an iron gate will not. At first I thought it was a function of the fence flexing so I added some bracing to the fence to reduce any flex/sway out of the fence. This just changed the frequency of the reverberation. What happens is when the gate slams shut, the latch hits the top of the gate (I mounted the latch at the top to keep our toddler from opening it) and the bottom of the gate has enough momentum and the gate is flexible enough that the bottom of the gate whips forward an inch or more and then 'waggles' until the energy is dissipated. This is not a fatal design flaw, just an annoying one that makes the product seem cheap. I may take the gate off and try filling it with structural foam to see if that can stiffen it up enough to reduce this effect further. If I can add a video at a later date I may post a video showing the flex issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good gate, but noisy Purchased the gate to install around a pool. Gate is light, all edges are true and looks really nice installed. However, one minor flaw, the gate's metal pickets vibrate in their slots when the gate hits the latch. I was expecting some vibration to come from the unassembled panels (which we managed to assemble without the vibration sounds), but not the gate. The gate comes fully assembled. I am not sure if the screws are not tight or if there is some other minor issue, but it sure sounds cheap when it closes. I might have to add some silicone or other clear adhesive to prevent the vibration of the pickets. I have adjusted the spring hinges to be as light a force as possible, but it still makes that twang when it hits the latch.
