Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mbinny Adds nice depth to the color over it
I used this to paint over some old patio chairs. I used a medium pine green color over this base and it added depth to the color. It has held up very well. I did use a clear finish paint over the chairs for added protection, but the base is what is important and they chairs still look good after two years. I am going to repaint them this year and will use this a a base again!

The picture shows what I did to the back of my cell phone. I sprayed it with Jet Black as a base coat. Then used Bright White Crazer and shelf liner to give the effect. And finally, topcoated it with Mirra Clear.
The Killer Cans spray like a dream! Very even coverage with no orangepeel. Lays flat! I love this stuff!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by madfish918 High end quality basecoat
As other reviewers have stated and as it says on the can, this is a basecoat product. It is designed to the used with the manufacturers other designer topcoat products. Take a look at the Killer Chrome product review for the topcoat review for the conclusion of this project. I primed my piece first and quickly learned that was unnecessary. This product covers very well in a couple of passed with the first coat. I loved the way the vertical nozzle covered the areas effortlessly and evenly. I had a problem with the product dripping as did another reviewer. I originally believed it was down to the fact that my flappy vinyl glove was catching overspray and causing the drip. When I straightened the glove the problem went away. I did have to consistently shake the can to keep it from happening again. The product did eat through my vinyl glove so keep that it mind when selecting protective gear.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by workathome As a base coat, it is okay
This is the base coat for a coating system. That much I was clear on. However, you need a clear coat in between the base coat and top coat (at least for the selection I went with). The can proudly said that it had a 'comfort' spray button, It did not (had the old style). When it came to actually using it, I was initially impressed with the spray pattern (vertical, rather than round), but the can kept sputtering and dribbling, causing raised spots on the surface, even though I used the can in a completely upright position. The paint did cover well, but I barely got 6 square feet of coverage, using the two coats suggested. - See my review of the 'chrome' top coat for more.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JerryY Looks great
Used this to paint a mild steel bumper I built. This is a very easy paint to spray and has a jet black color as advertised. Didn't have any problem with drips or runs and the paint seemed to create a thick coat after the 1st application.
This product requires being coated with Mirra Clear.

For this price, it should be perfect. At least, for a spray can. It is not. I have bought ALSA killer cans before, and I must say, it is really hit or miss at around 50-50. I bought two of these cans, both crapped out on me half way through the can. My painting conditions were ideal, what I was painting was sanded and clean, there was nothing to cause error otherwise. The first can shot great for 2 seconds, then the spray got 'dusty' quick, leaving a gritty finish and then it stopped working all together. The nozzle is terrible, you'll get hand fatigue quickly. The second can started off ok, no dusting, but then started to get a grey look to the coat, so I had to stop. Garbage. For $30 a can, it should shoot better than what you can buy at any dollar store. I did notice when shaking up the can (for at least 6 minutes) the rattle got 'stuck' when I heard it rattle, like this can has been setting for a loooong time. Not good. ALSA makes good paint. Sometimes. If you go this route, be prepared for failure, you are taking that chance. If it goes well, you just got lucky. A better choice if you are looking for car quality jet black paint in a can, is to find some BMW 668 Jet Black in a can sold online. NOT dupli-color, but from a paint shop that just loads cans.

We used this can of spray paint on a piece of wicker basket furniture that was already stained brown. We had been wanting to paint this piece black for a while, and finally went for it. I did not want to worry about sanding it down, so I chose not to, and I still received very good results!
The paint sprayed out of the can evenly, and consistently until there was almost no paint left in the can. There wasn't enough paint to finish spraying the back side of the piece of furniture I was working on, but that's fine since it's going up against a wall. This paint is supposed to provide just a "base coat", but I am happy with the way it looks without adding anymore layers of paint. It did not want a glossy look anyways, and this paint provided the non-gloss look I desired. I do think the price is a little on the high side, but then again, this is a higher-quality spray paint.

This was my first time ever doing any type of painting. It works like a dream, easy to use, dries very quick, and it's a nice even spray. I'm very happy with this product. It made me look like I was a pro lol.
