Customer Questions & Answers

We need to put a floor down that is just 2 x 4's, will this work on studs or do we need to lay a foundation of plywood over the floor studs?

Asked by: Robbie
You need a flat, level surface to lay it down on. These panels are meant to replace the 2x4 and plywood sub floors are usually made from.

will it support the weight of a full size refrig and toilet ?

will it support the weight of a full size refrig and toilet ?
Asked by: sparks
He has to put actual easily support the weight of a full size fridge or freezer up to 3000 pounds per square foot. I however do not recommend placing a toilet directly on this product but rather to cut out a section and anchor it directly to the floor drain, so that there is no drain issues or movement issues. Good luck HC

Once you lay the entire floor can you tile a spot and mount a wood burning fireplace?

This is for an on grade slab home we use for a cabin.
Asked by: ColdinIrons
This product would be classed as "combustible" , therefore the ONLY way (not just because AMdry told you yes) to know if you can have it UNDER your hearth/fireplace is to check with the manufacture of your stove unit. You need to know what r-value (or K-factor) is require under your fireplace. Every wood burning unit is different.

can you use this in an attic to create a walkable floor to be able to storage stuff neater and better?

Asked by: diane
Not unless you already have a plywood floor as truss spacing may not allow for the panels to sit solidly and be attached securely.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Panels Buckled/Bowed Within 5 Days I bought this product because it was suppose to make installation easy for installing a thermal barrier in a basement. But within 5 days of receiving the pallets of subfloor and installing all the panels are now completely bowed/buckled, and the floor is no loner level. The center of every panel is raised while the edges are lower. The panels that are not installed yet but just sitting in a pile are also affected as well. The floor was perfectly level before and after installation, and now when walking and stepping in the center of the panel the panel sinks with each footstep. I bought this because the manufacture claims "This built-in compression joint virtually eliminates any chance of buckling or heaving of the floor surface due to excessive expansion." However when I reached out to the manufacture I was told that having humidity above 20%/30% in the basement causes this, my humidity is currently only about 40%. This product is specifically designed for a basement which by default will have a higher humidity level. I live in PA. They claim that the OSB has to expand but the Styrofoam underneath does not expand so then floor bows/buckles. But again I thought that was the purpose of the special connectors or the 1/2" gap around the perimeter. The gap along the edges is unchanged and the plastic connectors do not appear to have more pressure put on them. And the fact the panels not even installed had the same affect I seriously doubt their quality product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very easy to work with The product is easy to install and cut and connect together. It does pose an issue with the height of the product. Be careful around your basement stairs, it lessens the height of the last step about 2 inches, our building code requires equal height between each step and we failed our final inspection. We had to remove the flooring from around the stairs. Over all great product, insulates the basement floor well and very easy to install and cut. It is a bit pricey though. Make sure your basement ceiling is of adequate height including box ins before you install, you lose about 2.5 inches of floor the ceiling height.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as stated, saves time and money. I found the quality of the product delivered to be exactly as stated with only one small tear in the seal of one of the boards. I just took some duck tape and patched it over, the material is going to be stationary, on smooth concrete. Took a little time to become aware of the peculiarities of lining up the flex connectors, and facing the reality that the best way to cut the connectors is with a hacksaw. When compared against, vapor shielding, framing, insulating and subflooring, this method beats the cost and time, by a mile.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Amdry Panel Installation I installed the Amdry panels over my new construction concrete basement slab. The house was approximately 2 years old when I installed the panels. Per the Amdry instructions, I did nothing special to the concrete slab other than insuring it was clean. The house is in NH and the basement has not had any moisture or water problems since we've moved in. The basement is a walkout basement with 2 of the 4 basement walls being concrete, built into the hillside. The concrete slab is fairly flat, with only 1 or 2 small areas that dip down approximately 1/16 or 1/8 in from overall flatness The installation was straight forward and as simple as described in the installation instructions. I brought all the panels into the basement and left them for 1 month prior to installation. After installation, I noticed that more than a few panels, probably 20-30 appeared to be warped upwards. When looking at some of the remaining unused panels it was clear that the upper surface of the OSB was warping upwards, approximately 1/4 in along the long or 4 ft axis. The warped installed panels clearly "bounce" when walked on. The basement air relative humidity is approximately 50%, so not that bad. I plan on letting the subfloor set for a few more months before I decide what needs to be done about the warpage. Amvic technical support suggests I put Tapcon screws down through all the warped panels

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use, saved me time Got this product from the store in St Clair. I used drycore in my older house and decided to try this one for my new basement reno. Installation time was faster. Insulation already include. Make sure you do your measurements correct I miss calculated and got extra panels.
