Steel Data Telecom Wall Plate - Bright Brass is rated 1.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wish I had known. Since the product pictures do not show the backside, let me describe. It's wired up much like an old phone wall jack. which means screws holding down wries with hooks clamped on. The ethernet wallplate kits they sell in the store with white wall plates, are easy, you stick the wires into place, colour matched, and push a piece into place that holds them there. If you don't have wire ends, and a clamping tool, your way of wiring this up would be strip your wires, and bend them around and screw them down. Half of the wires on the back of this outlet match with cat5 wire colours. Half of the wires do not match up at all, so you will need to make a chart for yourself. Sound like fun yet? But wait there's more. The screws holding these wires down, and pressed into a block of white nylon. Trying to unscrew these are quite difficult, and one snapped while I was doing so, making that wire completely useless, though I needed it. I tried direct wiring, that one, but the wire in the wall plate assembly is multiple very thin aluminum wires, where as the wire in the cat5 cable is solid copper. They don't wire together well unless you solder, and even then. After all that, it is no wonder that the ethernet network in my office does not work. I am returning these, and going back to the ugly white wall plate ones that work.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wiring not easy This plate looks great. Nice brass finish. It's also a data port if you wish. Wiring is a challenge though. Instructions are very clear however, the sticker on the terminal block makes no sense. Instructions indicated which 'number' terminal to use depending on type of color coded wire in wall. The terminal block has unrelated colors rather than being indicated by numbers as in instructions. A big pain to figure out. Good luck.
