I can't review the product, since I could never get one delivered in one piece. First one came with motor/compressor busted out through bottom frame. Second one came the same way. Really poor packaging design on the part of the manufacturer. Not really Home Depot's fault.
For others looking at this, be aware that *all* a/c units produce heat. And if you don't vent it outside, it *will* heat up a room. That's just the nature of a/c. Think of this unit as a cooling fan - it's going to feel good, but not cool down a room.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by OKCgirl The personal air conditioner is a great size, on rollers, so very easy to move around, lightweight makes it easy to pick up if necessary.
We purchased the personal air conditioner to go in a very small bathroom that does not have any air vents or windows, causing the room to get very hot. We needed some type of cooling device (we have used just fans and that helps) that did not have to be vented We found this little air conditioner on line and decided to order it. It is made to cool a very small area and it does a pretty good job. The only "little" problem is the amount of heat it puts off from the back of the unit, which over powers some of the cooling. We placed the back of the air conditioner towards the bathroom door, that we left a little ajar, to allow the exhaust to go out the door and the cool air blow into the bathroom. It works qute well---much better than not having anything at all! We also used it to blow directly on me while at my sewing machine--very nice. It does its jbb as a small personal air conditioner.

read the reviews prior to purchasing and noted pros and cons but decided to give it a try. Set it up in a room that was already cooled by a central A/C and left the room. Came back to find the room HOT. The machine puts out MORE heat from the back than cool air from the front. SO.... do NOT waste your time.

This unit did not "cool" the area. It could not handle warm air at all.

I bough this unit for my kids' room - which has a window that opens horizontally - making it impossible for it to accept a conventional AC - or even a portable one that requires venting. I was hoping this unit would be the answer to our prayers.
We tried it out as soon as it arrived in the early evening. The outside temp was in the lower 80s probably. Nothing too bad - but the room - a small room btw - was not comfortable. So we all went in and got a feel for the room temp before turning the unit on. Then we let it run for about 15 minutes and checked it again.
There was really no noticeable change in the temp of the room. The unit does produce cool air - from a vent at the top. But it also produces warm exhaust air.
We let it run for another hour or so. And again - no discernible change. I imagine the cool air was just being cancelled out by the warm air. We let it run a bit more in the hopes that it would cool. Tried it with the door open, with the door closed. Same thing - no real results.
It did seem to work as a de-humidifiyer - because there was some water collected in the receptacle. But a decent dehumidifier doesn't have to cost $270.
Sad to say this American Comfort Worldwide 1,000 BTU Personal Air Conditioner just didn't do what we needed it to do.
