What IS covered by their limited lifetime warranty?

It seems as though they've managed to exclude from the warranty every possible thing that could go wrong with the window, including seal failure if it's deemed to be "natural." Can the seal of the window failing EVER be covered by the warranty? If not, the warranty seems almost useless.

An earlier answer implies this can be done, but not how, or whether cutting is required

Thank you for your inquiry concerning the 50 Series Single Hung Fin vinyl windows. In order to remove the screen, it is recommended to first remove the operable sash. Once the sash is removed, turn the clips at the top of the screen so that they are free of the track. Then, pull the top of the screen into the home and the bottom will follow. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible purchase Purchased our windows around 2008. They are the WORSE!!!!!!!!!!! We bought 4 American Craftsman windows and they all fall down from the top when we open from the bottom. There are definitely difficiencies in the windows. You may be happy now but give them a few years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good upgrade I bought these to replace old single-paned windows. We had to do a little framing, and had to cut the plastic on sides to fit, but was a good alternative to a much more expensive replacement install!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a buy I almost didn't order these because of some of the negative reviews. I don't agree with them as these windows seem to be excellent for the price. I was going buy them locally where I could look at them first, but they seem to be sold online only. They were packed individually in strong wood cases and so far, all have been in excellent shape. We are installing these windows as replacement windows on a house that had aluminum storms as the only window ever installed. I have installed 3 of the 10 windows so far and they go in easily and look good. I caution that the sizes listed online are not the size you will receive. A 32 by 52 window will be 31 3/8 by 51 1/4 as is listed right on the window with the flanges reaching to 35 by 55. Our rough openings were almost too large, but the wide flanges allowed us to use the openings as they were. We are definitely happy with these windows.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Online Specs are wrong. Now I'm stuck with the wrong window due to timing issues. Previous online review of specs being incorrect on the internet is absolutely correct. The product specifications are wrong. According to this website this window should be efficient enough to qualify for local power company rebates as part of an upgrade program. When I opened the window at home the specs listed on the official data sheet did not match what was listed online and the actual specs were not efficient enough to qualify for the rebate I had already budgeted for this project. Unfortunately for me I had a hole in the side of my house and did not have the luxury of time to order a new one. I also did not see review from previous online reviewer indicating this problem. Home Depot needs to review their own product descriptions online. Everything else about the window went great, it just wasn't the window that Home Depot said I was buying. Bummer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value I've purchased about 20 of these windows to replace old ones in an apartment building I own. Good value and easy to install. Some of them are now about 8 to 10 years old and no problems with them.
