Title says reversible so I was wondering if it can be installed for either right or left hand handling? Otherwise what does that mean?

No. I have never heard of a reversible window, but I may be ignorant. In any case, this one is not.

Answer:
This window is not reversible and should be installed as left handing (left sash from exterior view is operable). We have notified the appropriate departments to have the description corrected on homedepot.com. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience that this error has caused.

Answer:
It's just a hair too narrow. American Craftsman says the clear opening is 19.75" x 43.5" or 5.9 square feet. If the window were just a half inch wider, the clear opening would be 20" and the window would meet egress everywhere in the US. Bummer.

Answer:
Montgomery County Md. - and presumably the IRC - requirements for egress window opening size is determined by three factors together:
1. Must be a minimum of 20 inches wide
2. Must be a minimum of 24 inches high
3. The area of the opening (width times height) must be at least 821 square inches.
I estimate the opening size on the 48x48 window to be about 880 sq. in.

Answer:
We would need to know the window frame size in order to determine if the window meets egress. Also, our sliding windows are not designed to be reversible.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. The exterior left sash of the 50 Series Sliding Left Handling Fin Vinyl windows can be easily removed from the master frame. The exterior right portion of the window is stationary glass that would need to be de-glazed from the frame in order to be removed. What is the rough opening for this window? I see two different conflicting dimensions in the description and the specifications.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Windows We put this 48x48 window in our bedroom. It opens and closes like a dream, is quiet, has a slight tint that reduces glare from outside, and seriously lowered the bedroom temperature by about 10 degrees.Have had it over 8 months now and about to buy one for the guest room and two for the livingroom. Highly recommend! June 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Window- Low Price The big slider window in our living room had to be replaced. I special ordered this window with the Low E glass and argon filled. I helped the contractor install it. It is amazing the living room is now filled with light. Most importantly, the living room is much warmer during the winter. This new window is installed properly and I now realize there was enormous heat loss from the old window. Our heating bills during the winter are lower also. The thermostat that controls the heat is in the living room. This is an excellent high performance window at a low price. I am going to replace the windows in the back of the house with this type also. November 7, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by decent product for the price These windows are ok for average jobs, putting them in my garage so high quality isn't an issue. Would not put them in my home as they seem to be rather loose in the frames and I doubt the are air tight. August 19, 2014
