I have never replaced a window in my life, so when I took on this undertaking, I was a bit apprehensive. Once I tore out the old window, I new I didn't have a choice. But thankfully, the installation of this wndow was so very easy! A little silicone seal, 4 screws and some caulk and wing bang...NEW WINDOW! The appearance from the street was gorgeous! The easiness to install prompted me to replace all my wndows and now my house looks great! The windows I got rid of were 40+ year old wood framed windows that were starting to mold and get very drafty...but, now I have energy efficient beautiful windows. I definitely recommend these window replacements if you are in the market to replace your current windows. Thank you, American Craftsman.

I've purchased 8 total American Craftsmen double hung windows. The windows seem rather inconsistent in quality and poor craftsmanship. My windows leak air terribly, which means they whistle when the wind blows. Initially after I installed them and I heard the air leaks, I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me extra foam blocks for the channels and some instructions on possible fixes to the problem. I've tried their solutions and even tried resealing them myself. I'm out of ideas to fix them. I will not buy these windows again, nor will I recommend them to others.

I have ordered and installed 6 of these windows and they fit and install perfectly. Watch the video on the image list and follow the directions; this will help you to avoid problems. Each window takes less than an hour to install. Buy one tube of caulk per windows and have some insulation handy to shove in cracks and to put in to the header. Has nice locks and features.

We replaced our old window with this new improved model. We are sorry we did because within 60 days of replacement, the inside springs broke. Now when we lift it up, it weighs about 25 lbs and the wieght is splintering my wrist bone. Do not buy this window as it is poorly made and the parts inside are of the cheapest material's made for a window! Wish I still had my old broken window!

I purchased a total of 15 American Craftsman 70 windows - some via homedepot.com and some special order through the local store due to special dimensions. They all came in quickly without any damage or issue. The windows are really easy to install - watch a few videos on the internet on installing replacement windows. Don't be afraid to try yourself. Try one, then your confidence will skyrocket and you will do every window in your house.
The windows are excellent and really look nice. Big improvement over the old single pane windows with cracked glazing and oxidized aluminum storm windows. One added bonus is they have really reduced the noise from outside. They are easy to open and clean. I'm sure they will help cut down the drafts during winter and reduce A/C usage during summer.
One very minor note - watch for flashing at the outside corner vinyl welds. Trim if needed so they don't throw off your fit into the old window frame.

I needed to replace two windows and would replace two more of the same size if and when I located them. My local stores did not have any in stock. HD about 20 miles away showed 3 in stock. I ordered them on-line. They actually physically had 4 in stock, so I purchased all 4. New windows were very easy to install. Old windows can be removed from either inside or outside of home. I have done it both ways (on a one story house) and prefer outside removal. The 60 year old windows would probably have required 8 hours each to maximize their looks and function. To remove old and install replacement windows took about 2 hours each. New windows look much better, are easy to open and clean, and are probably much more efficient due to double glazing. 2 of 4 windows were missing a sill plate plastic strip, 1 had a hole in the screen and 1 had badly damaged/seriously bent sash lift bar (that still functions). Other than those issues, I'm satisfied with the windows and expect them to maintain their design specifications for 5-7 years, which is the lifetime - in my opinion - of these types of vinyl windows.

Well made and easy install makes the windows a great value. They are good looking, and with new wood interior trim and blinds gives the house a new look.
Went on line to see how to replace 65 year old windows in a cinder block ranch house. Saw some youtube examples and made measurements.Went to Home Depot who helped me select the right window. Came home, disassembled the old window, siliconed the remaining frame and slid the new window in place. It fit perfectly with no shimming. It also looked so nice I decided to replace all the interior trim. So back to Home Depot for whitr primed trim. First window took an hour, with trim 3 hours. Everything went so well and looked so good I did all 7 windows. Last one took an hour , with the trim.

My first window to do myself with my Son-in-Law who knew how and very easy to install and fit in place, ordered the correct size to leave just enough room to seal all around. The screen came with a small hole that something pierced the shipping box but I called and replacement screen is on the way... Thanks, I will buy more of the same from Home Depot, thanks again. RJD
