I recently needed to replace the upper window on a 10 year old window. I anticipated this being a headache . I was amazed at how easy and quickly it was ! I made a phone call to American Craftsman, thats it! It was so easy , I received a phone call when it came in , and I picked it up at Home Depot. I am so impressed . They really honor their Warranty! I will always purchase this brand because of their value ,quality and great customer service! Thank You.

I have purchased several of these windows, they are very easy to install, keep out cold and noise, and the quality compares well with more expensive windows

I purchased a total of 15 American Craftsman 70 windows - some via homedepot.com and some special order through the local store due to special dimensions. They all came in quickly without any damage or issue. The windows are really easy to install - watch a few videos on the internet on installing replacement windows. Don't be afraid to try yourself. Try one, then your confidence will skyrocket and you will do every window in your house.
The windows are excellent and really look nice. Big improvement over the old single pane windows with cracked glazing and oxidized aluminum storm windows. One added bonus is they have really reduced the noise from outside. They are easy to open and clean. I'm sure they will help cut down the drafts during winter and reduce A/C usage during summer.
One very minor note - watch for flashing at the outside corner vinyl welds. Trim if needed so they don't throw off your fit into the old window frame.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by jzbcnu Reasonably priced replacement windows
I needed to replace two windows and would replace two more of the same size if and when I located them. My local stores did not have any in stock. HD about 20 miles away showed 3 in stock. I ordered them on-line. They actually physically had 4 in stock, so I purchased all 4. New windows were very easy to install. Old windows can be removed from either inside or outside of home. I have done it both ways (on a one story house) and prefer outside removal. The 60 year old windows would probably have required 8 hours each to maximize their looks and function. To remove old and install replacement windows took about 2 hours each. New windows look much better, are easy to open and clean, and are probably much more efficient due to double glazing. 2 of 4 windows were missing a sill plate plastic strip, 1 had a hole in the screen and 1 had badly damaged/seriously bent sash lift bar (that still functions). Other than those issues, I'm satisfied with the windows and expect them to maintain their design specifications for 5-7 years, which is the lifetime - in my opinion - of these types of vinyl windows.

Well made and easy install makes the windows a great value. They are good looking, and with new wood interior trim and blinds gives the house a new look.
Went on line to see how to replace 65 year old windows in a cinder block ranch house. Saw some youtube examples and made measurements.Went to Home Depot who helped me select the right window. Came home, disassembled the old window, siliconed the remaining frame and slid the new window in place. It fit perfectly with no shimming. It also looked so nice I decided to replace all the interior trim. So back to Home Depot for whitr primed trim. First window took an hour, with trim 3 hours. Everything went so well and looked so good I did all 7 windows. Last one took an hour , with the trim.

My first window to do myself with my Son-in-Law who knew how and very easy to install and fit in place, ordered the correct size to leave just enough room to seal all around. The screen came with a small hole that something pierced the shipping box but I called and replacement screen is on the way... Thanks, I will buy more of the same from Home Depot, thanks again. RJD

I bought about 17 windows 8500 double hung between in 2009 and 2010 but in Winter 2010 I find out that some of the windows had issues. In october 2010 after reporting that to home depot and transfer to your company, Silverline sent a technician to my house a couple months later you guys sent me some BALANCE PLUGS. The following year same problem again I reported it again you guys send me some BUMPERS for the header to tightened the windows I have about 7 windows doing that out of 17 and they all in different part of the house. So if someone have this kind of problem its not unlikely because I am not the only one reported this. This is my third years every winter, I the same problem with the same windows. I have nothing wrong against the company it but I spent that kind of money for at least do a follow up, poor customer service from Silverline. To be honest 10 of them works fine and this year I bought 3 more the 70 model double hung with double latches this year. This year again I contacted the manufacture on the 11/08/2013 they told they do not cover services for these windows anymore but to have a technician come over to look at them it will cost me about $200 but no guaranty. Last time I check they have a 10 year manufacture or lifetime warranty on them. So be aware people when and where you buying your windows no SILVERLINE because any manufacture defects are not cover. After installing your window double check them on winter for leaks.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by steven installed hundreds and it is worst window ever
we had a problem with the window from day one. a tension spring was broke. had to wait for anderson to decide what to do. they sent out another frame to install my window in. frame was not welded and window weight broke another tension spring. they sent out a tech to put another spring in. it took 6 months at this point. plastic over window because it was winter. tried to get the window sealed so the fiber seal touch's the sliding window all year. no go. here we are winter again and going to put plastic up again. it is a very large window. 36 by 70. weak frames!! as the window slides up you can see the frame deflecting and the window slips out of the springs. I have installed hundreds of replacement windows and this is the first one that i have used, and the first one I can not get to seal. do NOT waste your money
