Now you can easily and economically recreate the rustic look afforded by authentic, aged oak beams with American Pro Decor finished hand hewn beams. Cast from the molds of genuine reclaimed wooden barn beams in high density polyurethane with exacting realism, American Pro Decor hand hewn beams not only convey all of the characteristic distressed markings and rugged texture of the wood beams that were hewn into shape by early settlers, they are indistinguishable from the originals after which they have been manufactured. Ideally suited for transforming ordinary houses, stores and restaurants into extraordinary, charming country style homes, shops and inns, American Pro Decor hollowed hand hewn beams are lightweight, sturdy, and easy to install on virtually any type of surface by means of affixing them via countersunk nails or screws to nailing blocks or wood planks. To heighten the overall authenticity of an installation, American Pro Decor offers optional rubber beam strapping and polyurethane U-brackets, which perfectly replicate the look of the heavy, forged wrought iron fastening hardware used to secure and affix the beams of yesteryear in place.

Hello ZenReno
You can fill any gaps or screw holes with a non-shrink wood putty and the manufacturer recommends tinting the putty befor installing. You also can fill with stainable putty and stain at the same time you are staining the Beam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks beautiful!! I ordered the Faux beams online...it was fast delivery, right to my home. The installation was also very easy! Myself and my husband did this project in our living room ourselves with no previous experience. We have remodeled our home all ourselves with no outside help so this was just another thing new to learn. It took us about 7 hours to install 3. It was easy, I'm sure a professional would have had it done In 1/2 the time? They look amazing, they were packed perfectly, they are light weight, and they look so real! Everyone that's seen them can't believe they are faux! I can't say enough good things about this amazing product!! I'm wondering what took me so long to do this???? I would highly recommended if your looking to add character to a room, love rustic look, it really is a vey inexpensive way to change the total look and feel of your home!!!! I can't stop looking at them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great on ceiling I ordered 3 beams. A bit of work to install, that was expected. The beams were much darker in color to the sample I had purchased. They were also different from each other. There were a few spot missing color that needed touch up.

The overall design and look of the product met my expectations but the color is WAY darker than what is depicted on the internet. They were so dark I seriously considered sending them back. Looking at them in the direct sunlight I decided to install them but in artificial light they are almost black in color! There was some minor shipping damage (scuffing) so a touch up kit would have been nice. No instructions of any sort were provided with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made the whole house look custom We wish we had done it along time ago, the beams really changed the look of the house. We added 8.5 ft of the 13 ft long beams to the top of our tray ceiling in the living room and used the remaining 3.5 ft for down the hall. I bought 4 beams and placed them 4 ft on center in the living room and 5 ft down the hall. They are not hard to cut, but to cut them square with little or no gaps was not easy. I used a manual hand sander with a dry wall screen attached to sand them flush and smooth on the ends. Worked great. Suggest cutting them about 1 inch longer than measured and work with each end to insure they are square. I used pine boards 1 x 3 (2.5 actual) x full length of beam to mount the beams. I drilled 3 holes on center of each board, held them to the ceiling and match drilled thru the dry wall. I then installed dry wall plastic inserts that hold 75 lbs each. Screwed the boards to the inserts, and then screwed the beams into the boards from the sides. 2 screws every 2 ft. (each side of beam). I did have a few gaps that I filled in with thin strips of the scraps using glue to hold them. They came double boxed. No issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from accurate title Overall I highly recommend this very inexpensive and easy installation solution for wood beams in your home. I have never seen one of these before nor handled anything like it so it took me about 2.5 to 3 hours to fully install. Three things to note: 1. Measure the width of your ceiling and cut, using a hand saw, the faux beam to 1/2" to 1" longer than the width of your ceiling placement. You can later slowly trim it down to size to fit securely so there are no gaps between the wall and the beam. 2. There are no install instructions so I had to do some research on YouTube. The key to the install is cutting a 2x4 to 8" to 10" lengths as framing/braces and nailing/screwing them to your ceiling equally spaced apart. I used 5 braces on my 12'8" ceiling width so my spacing was about 2ft apart per brace. You then slide the beam over the braces - make certain your first and last brace are against the ceilings edge at the wall and one in the center of the ceiling then space accordingly with the remaining braces. 3. The inside of the faux wood beam is NOT perfectly straight...this will cause you to have to shave/cut the width of the 2x4 (naturally 3.5"s wide) brace down to the specific inside width of faux beam at each location you intend to place a brace. Cut the width just snug enough that each braces fits firmly into the faux beam and make the braces flush with the open side of the faux beam and number the beams from 1 to X AND place the word "UP" next to the number. From end to end, measure the center point of faux beam and draw a line through the lengths of all the braces...this will be the center point of each shaved/cut brace - each one will be different based on how and where the inside of the faux beam warps back and forth. NOTE: On each brace continue the center line down the edges of the braces as if you were trying to draw the center line all the way around the brace. This last step is important because all your center lines are now facing UP and will be placed against the ceiling, with out the continued center line down the edges you won't be able to see the center lines which is quite necessary. 4. Pull all the braces out of the faux beam and mark the number of the brace to the bottom side - you can also extend the center line from the edges to the bottom of the brace to. 5. Next A) Draw a center line on the ceiling where you want your faux beam to go. Hopefully this center line crosses some studs so have something solid to attach your braces to B) on the ceiling roughly outline the begin/end points of where each brace will attach to. C) Starting with brace #1, with the word "UP" is facing the ceiling, match the center line of the brace to the center line on the ceiling within begin/end points and screw/nail it to the ceiling - make certain its firmly attached - if not able to hit a stud, you WILL need anchors to attach the braces to the ceiling. D) Finish all braces to the ceiling in the same fashion. 6. If #2 and #4 were followed well, your faux beam should just slide right up over the braces for a snug/firm fit - if you are off in any of your measurements, meaning, the NOT straight, curvy inside of the faux beam not matching up with your original brace placements - then the inside curvy edges of the beam won't probably fit correctly over where the braces are placed causing you to have redo some brace cuts and/or placements. You can always pinch the beam around a thinner brace, but you don't want to force the beam wider around too thick of a brace. 7. With the beam over the braces and snug up against ceiling, use two screws per brace (one for each side) to attach the beam to the wood. I suggest screws and NOT nails otherwise if you ever need to take the beam down you will tear the beam up trying to get that nail out. Also, recess the screw about 1/4" into the beam so you can later cover the screw holes up with marker or screw covers cut out of the excess beam you cut away. Good luck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very satisfied but... I think the texture and look was very good but there were a couple areas of exposed foam. One thing that would make this 5 stars would be a small color matched filler or marker to cover exposed blemishes. Otherwise, great product.
