Answer:
Yes. I did exactly that so that the pad would make my rugs safe while not showing. Mine are 1 1/2" to 2" from the edge of our rugs and show no sign of fraying.

I can see no reason why this pad could not be trimmed down if needed. It should not fray so long as the scissors you using are not in need of sharpening.

I had the non-slip pad down on a wood floor under a rug for a few days as we decided if we liked the rug. It did not leave a residue or sticky surface during the time it was on the floor.

Answer:
On a hardwood floor or other hard surface application you will place the rubber side facing down on the floor with the "scratchy" fiber side facing up on the rug pad. The rubber backing on the pad does not leave the floor slippery after removing it.

Answer:
The literature that came with it says "100% post industrial synthetic fibers." It appears to be felt made from fibers like nylon and polyester on one side with a thin layer of rubber on the other. Just guessing, I'd say it is shredded carpet pieces. It is about 1/8" thick.

Answer:
The All-Surface Rug Pad is manufactured in the USA using 100% post-industrial recycled synthetic fibers that are heat singe on one side, with the other side made of a non-skid rubber backing which is thermally bonded with high heat and pressure to the synthetic fiber pad.
This low profile pad is thinner at 0.125” thick to allow for door openings and less loft for thicker area rugs

Answer:
No. I have used these pads before in the past because I have pets and prefer to use area rugs rather than wall-to-wall, and they have "never" left residue on my hard wood flooring when the time comes to replace. These pads are very reasonably priced and also long lasting. I only replace the padding when it is time to replace the area rug.

Answer:
No, the heat pressed rubber backing will not leave a residue on your hardwood floor. Over time, and based on the climate of your home and if the floor has radiant heat or not - the rubber backing could possibly dry out. This will not damage the floor though.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Quality I really liked this non-slip rug pad. We did not end up keeping the rug; but the pad is terrific. August 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works Well - Watch Instructions for Border! Product is high quality - price is reasonable, some flooring stores sell similar product for 10% more. This didn't get a 5 star because the (minimal) instructions were unclear until after we trimmed the pad. It mentioned for larger rug leave a 2" border around the rug edge, which my wife read to mean 2" on all sides. Well, they then give an example and mean a 1" border, two inches total trimmed from length and width. The rug doesn't slip or roll at the edge yet but we haven't had it down long enough. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Prevents layered rug from buckling! We stacked two rugs for various reasons in my daughter's room, and the one on top kept buckling. I ordered this pad to see if it would help te top rug lay flat and it works!!! We cut the excess with no problem and couldn't be happier! May 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works well The felt side makes it very difficult to get the carpet positioned properly, but once that is done it's not going anywhere! I put it under an antique Persian rug, mostly to protect the knotting on the back as the rug is so heavy it doesn't slide, even on hardwood. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product We needed anti-skid mats for several rugs due to having wood floor at one location and sheet vinyl at another. Rugs with no backing were extremely slippery and dangerous. Rugs with an integral non-skid backing deteriorated in the laundry so we are now only buying rugs without backing. I was concerned that the anti-skid mat would get gummy and stick to our wood or vinyl floor or leave marks as reported for some competing products. However, it has been a month or two since we installed this product, and so far there is absolutely no sign of gumminess, deterioration, or marking of the floor. With this mat I can't slip even when I try. June 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect! Exactly what we needed: well-made, easy to trim-to-fit, keeps rugs from moving, no marks transferred to wood floor, and thin enough that it doesn't raise the rugs too high. Highly recommend. October 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Carpet Pad I just put brand new hardwood floors down, and bought a large area rug - and wanted a good quality pad for it. I was very pleased with the quality - and it is pretty easy to trim. May 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value The rug pad was easy to trim with scissors to fit the area. The area rug doesn't slide around and we are pleased with the value. I would recommend this as a good purchase. March 26, 2015
