Questions & Answers

Is there a right and left cartridge?

Asked by: George
No. I bought the 994053-0070A/H and flipped it to work with the cold faucet. Works perfectly.

How do you replace the cartridge?

Asked by: Peter
My faucet has a cap which hides the screw which holds the handle on. Unscrew the handle. I had to use a screw driver to lift it off because it was stuck...just a little. Take a wrench and unscrew the cartridge until it comes out. To replace, reverse the directions.

Premature wear?

All faucets in my house use these cardridges (AS Hampton collection) I found out that every couple of weeks I have to exchange at least one. They are advertised as "Lifetime warranty" but it seems that these cardridges wear very quickly. Is there a trick to making them last or is this by design? I've been calling AS every time it fails - and so far they've been nice to send a free replacement, but it seems that either design or quality of materials is bad. I've had a couple of old fashioned (rubber gasket) faucets and they fair much better.

I purchased the same product and it only lasted 5 months before it began leaking. It was manufactured by Danco

This item only works properly on the hot water handel. Where is the one for the cold water handel?Tried

Installed this item on the cold water side and the faucet looks funny when you close the water. Requires a diffrent cartridge for cold handel. Returned the hot water cartridge back to Home Depot. No cold water cartridges in stock or ordered. Forced to go someplace else.
Asked by: Premo47
The cartridge works for either hot or cold handles by removing the spring clip from the stem, switching the direction of the stop washer and reinstalling the spring clip. This takes just a few seconds. This can be done after the cartridge has already been installed if you forgot to check its operation earlier.

It works for both hot and cold sides because it can easily be partially disassembled and aligned to the other side, then reassembled, and installed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works on both cold and hot water sides Easy to install. However, mine was "set" for hot water side of faucet. (Turn counter clockwise for on). But, i needed it set for the cold water side (Turn CW for on). What to do? Remove the little wire clip you see on valve stem, lift up the washer with the lobe sticking out, rotate it 90 degrees...that is the only thing you can do with it), set it back down, replace the wire clip and presto, it's now set to turn on with CW rotation. Works great...so far (day one). Why are there no instructions with the product to tell you this!!!

I've replaced probably $100 worth of these through home depot and other hardware stores over the 3 years I've owned my house. They work for about a year, then they slowly leak over time. The seal doesn't seem to hold.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from garbage The cartridge for my hot water handle broke a few weeks back. I went to Home Depot for a new one, got home, and replaced it. Less than a week later the cartridge broke again. Took it back figuring it was defective and Home Depot gave me a new one. Installed that cartridge, and it worked for a week - and it broke again. A friend picked up another one at a different store but it was the same part number - he put it in for me. And that one lasted a week and broke again. I went digging through a box the previous homeowner left for me for the part number and found a cartridge he left. This was the A model - not the A/H. The older model is heavier and made of metal - this part is plastic and must be melting. This model might work for the cold water, but it's just made cheaper
