Please clarify installation dimensions

The specifications list the inner bowl dimension front to back as 10 inches; however, the cutout is only 7 inches. How is this possible? Also, the vertical space under the cabinet top is quite large at 19.75 inches while the sink depth is listed as 7.375. Can I assume the vertical space includes installation piping? Else, why is it so large? To assure proper drainage?

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A quality, economical upgrade First, I was pleased at how quickly the bathroom sink was delivered, at no cost, to my residence and how well it was packaged. I just now installed it and am pleased with the overall quality and, especially, the finish. It is a welcome improvement over the original, replaced sink, a porcelain over steel product. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the shape. I bought this as a replacement for my countertop. I love the shape! It is so comfortable to use! It looks beautiful in my newly remodeled bath. April 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Smart choice Functional, classical, and looks great. High quality. September 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Aqualyn, drop-in sink, bone I bought two of these sinks for a bathroom remodel. They were beautiful and well made. They looked great installed over a marble tile counter. The templates included with each sink helped a great deal. May 1, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by These sinks are a vast improvement over the coated metal sinks originally installed in the house. These sinks were all well packed and arrived in pristine condition, and installation was relatively simple. February 7, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Should be American Un-Standard I ordered two of these sinks. I have to send one back because there is a permanent mark on it. On both, the faucet holes are drilled crooked. The hole on the right is 4mm's higher than the one on the left. Hopefully I can cover the difference with the faucet plate. I have ordered other American Standard products and all I can say is that American Standard seriously needs to increase it's quality control. That aside, it is a nice looking product.
