Please clarify installation dimensions

The specifications list the inner bowl dimension front to back as 10 inches; however, the cutout is only 7 inches. How is this possible? Also, the vertical space under the cabinet top is quite large at 19.75 inches while the sink depth is listed as 7.375. Can I assume the vertical space includes installation piping? Else, why is it so large? To assure proper drainage?

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No complaints! Excellent easy transaction including quick shipping. Was trying to match a similar AS sink from 1979. Small differences but new sink was closer to white in linen than old sink. Can't complain the old model was 37 years old. Good price and quality. September 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Replacement We bought four of these sinks in white and linen to replace decades old metal sinks that were rusting away. The old sinks measured 17" x 20" and had much larger than necessary mounting holes with very little margin to the sink edge. That was fine with sinks that had mounting clips, but would not allow for enough area for adhesive application on self-rimming sinks. The 20-3/8" x 17-3/8" dimensions of this sink gave enough extra area over the remaining vanity surface to allow for adequate adhesive. We bought the sinks in both white and linen and find them to be an attractive upgrade. No photo I saw online, even on American Standard's website, gave a true representation of the linen color. I assume the same problem exists with bone. If color is critical, you should try to obtain color chips. The bottom surface of the sink surrounding the drain hole was not perfectly flat on any of the four sinks. This caused water leakage problems around the drain gasket. It is solved without too much trouble with a sealant. December 20, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best ever!!! One of the sinks had a small defect -- black dot on white surface and looks terrible. We needed to get the sink installed and so kept it. Each time that I use it I regret keeping it. March 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A quality, economical upgrade First, I was pleased at how quickly the bathroom sink was delivered, at no cost, to my residence and how well it was packaged. I just now installed it and am pleased with the overall quality and, especially, the finish. It is a welcome improvement over the original, replaced sink, a porcelain over steel product. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just Right Could not have been more perfect. Easy price and installation! March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by An Impressive Sink I feel a little silly getting so excited over a sink but what can I say besides, it's a really impressive sink. It has really nice lines and a pearly kind of finish. It was packaged very well and represents an exceptional value. I'm very pleased with my new sink. January 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Self Rimming Bathroom Sinks We are so happy with this product. We ordered on line and were able to have the sinks delivered to our house. The product came timely and there was no damage. These sinks were ordered to replace existing sinks in our master bathroom. We had our counter top upgraded to granite. The sinks are beautiful. BTW - we had our granite installed by Home Depot too. December 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the shape. I bought this as a replacement for my countertop. I love the shape! It is so comfortable to use! It looks beautiful in my newly remodeled bath. April 14, 2016
