I bought this unit about 6 months ago now it is seeping water between the unit and the floor the hold down bolts are tight how can I fix it??
Asked by: smitty
Yeah, as many others have stated the wax ring now needs replaced. Quick, easy, and low cost. I make a lot of assumptions from this being online but when you say the bolts are tight, I'm thinking that the bolts were over tight from the start. I feel you should always be able to get a 1/4 turn on a bolt even if it's been installed for a few years. When you lift the bowl off the old ring take a look at the bottom. If it's damp outside of where the ring mounts then it was never set correctly. Could also be a slow leak on the water inlet connection and just appears to be the base. Some of these have also known to have cracked tanks which could have water collecting on the floor by the toilet. Many things that I can only assume and should check.

Cadet 3 FloWise 2-piece 1.28 GPF High Efficiency Elongated Toilet in White is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 420.

I never thought I'd be doing so much research on toilets, but that's how life goes, and this one was always one that came up in the top 5 or 10 lists, and it does not disappoint. Installation was very easy and the toilet looks, well, like a toilet, and functions great. If you need a more powerful flush than this you may consider consulting a physician. Also, I love that it uses the tried and true flapper. Will it need to be replaced at some point? Probably, but it will take about a minute and cost 6 bucks, and as it uses Fluidmaster mechanisms, it will be easy to find parts if and as needed.

After doing quite a bit of online research and reading the negative reviews I bought the American Standard Cadet 3. Part of my decision took into consideration the fact that I have an old reliable American Standard and many of the complaints seemed like they could be remedied. My new Cadet 3 was easy to install with all parts included except the water line. After I had it in service for a month I noticed it did not do a good job of rinsing certain areas around the bowl. Using an inspection mirror I noticed some of the water ports under the rim had not been opened up in the manufacturing process. I took a spring loaded impact punch and knocked them open and the bowl rinsed fine after that. If you are having problems with not flushing all the waste try increasing the water level in the tank by adjusting the float level. If you are a handy-person unless it is broken you should be able to solve any problems with operating the Cadet 3. I would have rated it 5 if I had not had to open the water ports.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My pick for a toilet or 3 ha ha I followed directions 3X 's why? b/c I bought and installed 3 in my house 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs. Only had them for 3 weeks and they flush very well indeed just like the video I saw. I highly recommend also buying the Green Sani Seal for $12.95 b/c installing this toilet is a breeze you can adjust the toilet many times before locking it down with a old cheap wax seal you have make sure you seat once if it's off or wrong you have to buy and reinstall a new Wax seal, Sani Seal can be adjusted no need to replace it every time. This American Standard Cadet 3 has a adjustment of 1.28-1.6 GPF the adjustment is located in the rubber flapper in the tank you pull off the rubber flapper and turn the cone from 1-10 different notches https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5dRpOQd6UE I left it at the 1.28GPF default.

I purchase this toilet because it having an oversized 3 in. flush valve for a more powerful flush. Most toilets flush valves are smaller. I had no problems installing the toilet. Very simple to install if you are use of doing small jobs.

Easy to install, well engineered, all the necessary parts are there, guts of the tank are already installed. You probably don't need any tools for installation but I have tons of tools that I'm used to so I used some of mine. It's the best toilet in our house. Strong flush, cleans well, very quiet compared to the Sterling one it replaced. I don't like soft close lids but that's just a personal preference. It's actually a dual flush toilet. What I mean is that if you push the lever quick, that works well for liquids. Then if you hold it down for a couple seconds you get a much bigger flush for solids. Dual flush without the fancy dual flush mechanism. It's easier to do that than messing with the bulb adjustment that someone said was on youtube. I watched that video but why bother when you can just do the same thing with the flush handle. All the bulb trick does is keep the trap open longer. A negative.....the seat installed crooked because the holes in the base were drilled crooked. You couldn't tell by looking but could easily tell when you tried to install the seat. I called American Standard and they said those are drilled before the unit is fired so they're not cast in the mold. They said I'd have to take it back to Home Depot. I wasn't very happy about having to uninstall it, carry it downstairs, pack it over to HD, then get another one and reinstall it. No problems with the second one. Their included wax ring is the standard size and works fine but you can tell the difference in adhesion between it and the extra thick one HD sells. That's what I used for the second install. Very nice unit, I'd definitely buy one again but I'd open the box and lay the seat on the base in the store (which is what I did on the second one) to make sure the holes were drilled right. I would have given it 5 stars except for that problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent performance This is the first low flow toilet that I've owned, and I was kind of expecting to have to flush multiple times to clear the bowl, but this unit has totally changed my mind about that. This toilet has completely emptied the bowl on the first flush, every time, without fail. It's also quick and quiet. The bowl does tend to collect debris above the water line but it is easy to clean. I give this toilet a confident recommendation!

It works and looks really great, upon installed by an expert plumber from a prestigious company. The only drawback, not related to this product, is that when delivered, it arrived with the cover of the tank broken in several pieces, and the provider has not sent yet a replacement, after being contacted about two weeks ago.

I chose this toilet because I had purchased two others for my home and literally....they have never plugged up. This was for one of our rental units. Who doesn't want maintenance free for a rental!
