Man - it flushes so fast. The new water closet went in faster than taking out the old one.

I can't believe I waited this long to replace my old school 3+ gallon toilet with this 1.28 gallon model. Installation was easy and took about an hour including pulling the old one. The only thing extra I needed to complete the job was a new water supply line - everything else was in the box. I'm actually looking forward to our guest bathroom toilet failing so I can replace it too!

OK...so forget everything you know about installing a toilet. Don't use your own parts for anything. The parts in the box make the installation very easy, esp. the toilet to floor bolt tightener and nice white caps that clicks on and stays on. Mark the top of the mounting bolts with a small straight line that parallels the locked in position of the bolt head in the floor flange...this will allow you to hold the bolt in place and secure in the floor flange as you tighten the nuts that have a tendency to turn the bolts. Don't mess up the wax seal part of this by warming the room for 24 hours to about 78+ degrees for the toilet, seal and floor mount to warm up. Once the seal and toilet bowl is in, lower the temp, if necessary so you can work and test the flush slowly with a 5 gallon bucket of warmish/cold water. First a little at a time then when you see no leaks around the base, pour two 5 gallon pails of water in...if you have a leak, it will show up then. Next, cut the bowl nuts 3/8" above the white plastic nut....do use anything except a 'toilet bolt limited access saw' and do it manually as you hold the mounting bolt from turning and popping out of the toilet flange with a ViceGrip. Dremels are great but NOT for this, trust me.
Also, the tank to bowl bolts are attached to the inside of the tank...after 15 minutes of swearing "where are they...those people, etc", I looked in the tank and there they were! The easy hand tighteners supplied make the job soooo easy. The Fluidmaster flusher is nice and quiet...it is inlcluded and installed properly. Just a note, if you can, replace your wall shutoff with a ball valve and buy a longer than necessary BRAIDED feed line (I need to replace mine, it just made it). One other thing, make sure the base is level side to side and back to front (ever sit on a portapotty on a hill?!!) ...and use a 2 foot level and toilet shims. Install toilet shims to make it level, mark them with a fine tip black magic marker and then cut them with a small saw in a vice...even the sharpest utility knife will not score them enough to snap them. Install the cut shims but stop at the edge of the bowl...if you push too far in, they will be lost and you will be doing it over. Finally, after the unit is in for a few days and you are sure there are no leaks, caulk around the base of the bowl (in Northern climates for expansion/contraction) or waterproof grout around the base (in Southern climates). Love the slow moving toilet seat cover which is included. Best Advice: FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS AND USE THEIR PARTS FOR SUCCESS.

I first purchased a very expensive champion 4 to replace a toilet in our half bath as the old 1 was just that, old! ( it lasted 17 years ) I purchased the right hight elongated bowl and all was well! Except that we realized after about a month of use we really did not like the right hight 17". I'm 6'4" and my wife is 5'9' and both of us found the 17" high toilet was just uncomfortable for a good book reading! :) The toilet was great, quite flush and it accomplished the job well!
When It came time to replace the other 2 toilets in our house we decided to go with the cadet 3 elongated and round bowl regular hight versions. The kids like the round bowl and us grown ups like the elongated bowls! All 3 of these toilets were easy install and with the extra purchase of the sani seal waxless toilet ring, install was easy as cake and no nasty wax ring to remove later.
My only recommendation is when setting the bowl on the tank and also when tightening the bolts to the floor, have someone sit on the tank and tighten the bolts making sure not to over tighten and do the same for the floor bolts.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Pete This is a great flusher!
Have had this toilet for 1 month. I am very impressed with everything about it. Great flush power, and very easy to install. I am 70 years old but I had it installed in less than an 1/2 hour. Has not even come close to clogging plus it looks nice too. No complaint about the seat it is rather comfortable I would highly recommend this toilet. Will replace the others in the home with this model this summer. Well worth the money
