I installed 2 Champion 4 toilets. One seems to run off and on throughout the day. As if the flush valve wasn't closing all the way or there was a leak somewhere. Both a one piece models so there are only a couple spots to leak from and I don't see any of them as the culprit. could the valve not be sealing properly?
Asked by: Anonymous
Be sure the pull chain is loose enough to allow the flush valve to seat properly. Make sure the water level is 1/2" down from the overflow tube. Make sure the flush valve seal is not distorted in any way or there will be a slow leak into the bowel.

No, we do not manufacture a 10" rough in toilet that would have the required dimensions.

Champion 4 1-piece 1.6 GPF Single Flush Tall Height Elongated Toilet in Linen is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 93.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Perfect for Adults I really like the one piece design. The height is great for adults like my wife and I now that all our children are grown. We highly recommend getting the soft close toilet seat that is available as an option. No more lids slamming closed! We replaced all three of our toilets with this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good performance, not thought out well I have no issues with the day-to-day performance of the toilet. It performs as advertised. The trip lever is inadequate for this toilet. The weight of the tank water on top of the oversized 4" flush valve puts added stress on a plastic trip mechanism. It felt spongy from day one, and broke after about two years. Additionally, the flush valve does not have enough flotation to allow a proper flush of the full tank. You must hold the lever until the flush is complete. I would probably recommend it to a friend because there's no better flush unless you get a pressure toilet... that is, as long as you upgrade the trip lever right away to a metal one that should have been included originally.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from no more plunger The fact that I do not need a plunger in the bathroom is great, especially when my son visits. BUT, the tank has developed a slow leak. I can see exactly where water is seeping through under the flap. From the parts picture it look like I have to replace the whole thing instead of just the flap which no longer sits tight. I have only had this for about 2 1/2 years. disappointed but overall would rather not go back to using a plunger.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good strong flush but...... I bought this toilet about 5 years ago. It flushes well but the flapper in the tank leaks constantly and the toilet tank fills up with water over and over again causing water waste, in turn high water bills. American Standard claims the toilet has a 10 year warranty but they make you pay for that flimsy, blue cheap replacement flapper that leaks. I think they should redesign the flapper by making it much thicker and bevel the shape to plug the hole, kind of like the old fashioned clam shell flapper.. I will never purchase another American Standard toilet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sticks open and water runs continuously I have had this toilet for 6 years and if I don't look at it after flushing to make sure the handle is back up, it will invariably stick and run water nonstop until my wife or I happen to go back into the bathroom and catch it. I have tried the limited adjustments available, but nothing seems to solve the problem. It has been a costly toilet at times because of a high water bill where it happened to run for a day or overnight. Real frustrating. It flushes good but needs to be re-designed for reliable shutoff.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap handle/lever assembly Within a year of installation, the cheap plastic handle rotates all the way around. It does not rotate where it is inserted through the tank, but between the handle and where the shaft goes through. This should be redesigned.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful but messy and disappointing I love the styling of this toilet. I haven't had it long, but I have an older Cadet4 in another bathroom and it never clogs. My previous toilet clogged frequently, so I expect this toilet to perform as well as my older Cadet4. It does flush differently than my other toilet; it splashes and leaves the bowl dirty. One reviewer wrote that you trade your plunger for a toilet brush with this toilet, and so far, it looks like that's true...I'm disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Product A friend highly recommended this toilet when we began a bath remodel 3 years ago. Previously we had high end designer toilets that were quite disappointing. We have purchased 2 of these toilets in the last 3 years (for separate baths) and will purchase a third one next week. Our contractor recommended a different toilet for the 3rd bathroom remodel, but no one in the family was willing to accept that recommendation. These are the best toilets we have ever owned. Great flush, have never had any problems. The higher seat is quite comfortable, easy to get up and down and we love the optional "no slam" toilet seats. They look very elegant in our new bathrooms. Cannot say enough about the quality of the product.
