Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 85 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding toilet! I was hesitant on purchasing a low gallon toilet but after talking to many sales associates at different home supply stores I decided to buy the American Standard Champion 4 1.6GPF. I have the round bowl and I bought it in white. Easy installation. It does however have a larger footprint on the floor than my previous 3.5 GPF did so make sure you have adequate room to install. I've had it installed for 6 weeks now and this toilet performs flawlessly! It's amazing how well it flushes with less water. I've even tried to plug it up with excessive paper and has never plugged up. Highly recommend....throw away your plunger! April 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great toilet but misleading advertising this is the second American standard toilet I've purchased in the past 60 days. The first clearly stated in the add that it did not have a toilet seat. This one did not indicate that there was no seat and showed it with one and so I did not order one. It arrived and no seat. I was told by retailer/[@]that somewhere in product features it was mentioned. I had to then order a seat and pay additional freight, making the total price $60.00 more than expected other then that toilet is great that's why I bought a second one so quickly. June 18, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I have purchased three We looked very carefully before purchasing a new toilet. I spent a lot of time on the internet gathering information. We choose to purchase this model due to efficiency and water savings. We have since purchased two additional toilets for a total of three. I also installed one of these in my daughters home.I also recommend this model to others when they are shopping for a new toilet. As a matter of fact, I recommended it to someone in [@] that was looking at toilets and wasn't sure which one to buy. May 8, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by watch out for flush valve in tank Had trouble with toilets in both bathrooms when we bought and moved into house 5 years ago. Wouldn't flush very fast and at first I thought we had clogged pipe problems. Replaced both with this model and was thoroughly happy with the way this one removed the waste almost instantaniously. Very happy how this solved the problem. Only drawbacks are #1. when you flush toilet it makes a loud clunking noise and #2. for the last year the flush mechanism seems to be either leaking or wearing out on both units. Water runs into tank every now and then even when nobody has used them so they definately are leaking somewhere. And it makes a humming noise (on both units)when nobody has used them and you have to jiggle the handle to make it stop. Very annoying especially in the middle of the night. September 9, 2010
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Flushes great when the flush handle works I have owned this model for several years, and in the first six months we replaced the flush handle. It broke off due to plastic piece too lose in the fitting. This happened several maybe four times. Lost count. Finally replaced the entire flush handle in and out with a generic version (all metal) This has fixed the issue with the handle so it now flushes first time every time. I do think it would flush anything as long as the handle works. August 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good product Having a septic tank and leech bed with clay ground was always a problem when the ground became saturated from heavy rains. The old 4 gallon toilet often needed a plunger even during dry ground conditions. With the 1.6 gal. Champion we have not used the plunger at all. The easy install , efficient flush is a great toilet. The only fault is the rounded flush handle. Your hand sometimes slips off before it is fully depressed. December 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stuck I bought two of these toilets. One for each bathroom I had. The first one was installed properly and worked great. The second one was installed proplerly but had a corrupt fill valve. Do you know what its like to drain a toilet over and over? I had to buy a new valve because I could not return the old one to the store. Apparently, I have to return it to American Standard. It's only a [$] piece, but really, who wants to take the time to do that. After the fill valve was installed, the toilet works great. I would be hesitant to buy one of these toilets again. When you buy something new, and take it out of the box and then it does not work properly...that's really frustrating and not everyone can afford a plumber to decifer the problem. So it's trial and error until you figure out its not you, its the product. May 9, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Champion 4 Round Front 1.6 gpf toilet... During the time I remodeled three bathrooms in our home, the existing toilets were replaced with the Champion style toilets by American Standard...all three, two were the round and one the elongated...this was about four years ago and I can honestly say we've not had one problem with them...with the exception of one of the seals which when requested was sent quickly and the leak was solved...I could not be more pleased with these toilets...
