originally installed 2 new comfort Kohler toilets in prior home, but on purchase of new condo I thought I was getting a more superior product, based on advertising and recommendations, by buying this American Standard product. But, on current comparison I wish I had purchased the Kohler product instead. Bought 3 of this version of toilet....one seems to have a problem with the flush/refill operation....called American Standard, but basic response was that if it flushes...no problem.....on refill the toilet bowl does not fill to same level all the time??????????? This is not rocket science technology!!! still trying to figure out cause of problem????

This toilet replaced an older toilet with standard (low) height to make it easier on older folks. It also sounded like it would be a stronger flush and save water at the same time. It's too soon to rate the performance, since it was just installed. However, some things to consider when buying this toilet. First the water tank seems a bit taller than our old one - no problem for us since there was nothing above. It is narrower, so some unpainted wall is exposed and touchup is needed. Also, if you store things on top of the tank, the lid has a raised rim, so it's not totally flat, and it is smaller so less stuff fits on it.
The last concern/puzzlement is the way the tank works. The opening of the flapper valve is about 4 inches from the bottom of the tank. So when you flush, 4 inches of water stays in the tank. My concern is that that water won't circulate and crud may accumulate in the tank. The description says the toilet has an "EverClean" surface to prevent bacteria, mold, and mildew, but I don't think that applies to inside the water tank. It isn't a shiny glaze like the toilet bowl.
Also, since the flush mechanism and flapper are not the standard type, you probably won't find generic replacement parts, like flapper, etc. Since our toilet is brand new, we haven't come to that bridge yet. Wouldn't it be nice if you could actually look inside the toilet when you shop? Why are the boxes down low and the sample toilets above your head? Can't think of a consumer-friendly reason, can you?
The flush action is very quick - only takes a second or two. Mostly a burst of water pushing waste out and a little water coming down the sides of the bowl. The refill is very quiet, So far, it has been flushing very well, though it takes some getting used to the different action. I find the seat comfortable, but the wife finds the round seat a bit small.

The stool works very well in our house on a well and with low volume flush.
It is tall enough for my tall frame.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tibblets In love with this toilet!
This toilet is awesome! We've had it for a little over a month now and couldn't be happier with our purchase! We weren't really sure if replacing the toilet was going to fix the flushing issues we were having with our old toilet (thinking that it was quite possibly a septic tank issue), so we were very relieved that a replacement toilet was exactly what we needed. This toilet's tank is significantly smaller which is perfect for our tiny bathroom. The flush is extremely powerful and yet it uses less water which is another awesome feature. Our only regret with this toilet is that we did not purchase it sooner! It's seriously that great. =)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dnevillepdx Great toilet, does what it promises!
Great high efficiency toilet. Single flush and they really mean it!
Only drawback is the included toilet seat. While it's really nice to have an all-included unit, and the seat does what it says about "no slam", it's plastic and not incredibly comfortable.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by PC Good Looking toilet, but so far thats about it.
As for looks, it looks great. As for max flush or ease of installation, can't really honestly tell a difference from this and any other toilet. Its overpriced for what you get. The MAIN reason I bought this toilet was for the slow close seat, looks and Max flush. I am planning on replacing the seat because the way they shaped the seat it feels like your falling forward on it at all times. I asked my wife how she likes it (did not lead her what I did or did not like) and she said , "the seat is really lumpy but everything else is fine".
IN SHORT, THIS SEAT SUCKS!
Second, 2 things broke while installing. When installing the seat, the left plastic bolt cover broke off just simply unclipping the plastic to access it...nothing a little glue wont fix. Second, the plastic washer they give you to the water tank broke when I was going "hand tight". I guess when they say hand tight, they mean for a 80 year old woman with arthritis.
All and All I would not buy this toilet again, 2 things broke because of cheap plastic on installation and the toilet seat needs to be replaced because no one in our family likes it or finds it comfortable.
**almost forgot, also be prepared to adjust the chain/handle after you install it. They have it set up for about a half flush from the factory.
As a contractor I have purchased many toilets in my day, while this is not the worst...it surely is not worth the $200 dollar price tag that comes with it.
