What is measurement from four-inch drain to very front of toilet?

I have to buy a toilet that is no more than 19 inches from the center of the drain to furthest part forward of the toilet. Otherwise, the bathroom door won't close!
Asked by: DMon707
Hello, I laid a tape measure from the back to the front and from the middle to the end. I think that may help you. If I understand your question , the middle of the toilet to the end is about 12inches (from where the 4" hole is. Hope that helps

Both of my toilets constanly have a gurgle sound; ie, every 10 minutes. Is it normal?

Asked by: Anonymous
It sounds a lot like your tank water level is a bit too high and water is overflowing down the bowl refill tube. Or, that rodent trapped inside is struggling for air :)

How big is the wax ring?

Asked by: Steffin1979
The wax ring supplied by A.S. is sufficient. You needn't buy another, just clean off the old used wax ring completely - and read the instructions.

How do I know what rough in size to purchase. I cannot see the hole in the floor under the toilet.

Asked by: Anonymous
Measure the distance from the wall to one of the bolts holding your toilet to the floor. Most common is 12", but don't worry if it's off by a little bit. Sometimes, the drywall is taken into account, but that's usually just a half inch.

Customer Reviews

Champion 4 Max Right Height 2-piece High-Efficiency 1.28 GPF Single Flush Elongated Toilet in White is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 880.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The reason they call it "Champion" Best toilet ever. Because I was in the process of replacing flooring, I decided it made sense to go ahead and change out toilets at the same time. I replaced three old 5 gpf toilets with a a Champion 4 Max, an H2Optimum, and a Cadet 3 Powerwash. The Cadet 3 is very good, the H2Optimum better, and the Champion 4 is best. I highly recommend it. If I had it to do over, I would have bought 3 Champion 4s. It doesn't clog, it has a great seat, and it virtually cleans itself. I installed all of them myself with no problems. Photo below, but I'm pretty sure no one wants to see it in action. Anyone who does needs therapy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tank cracked after 3 months I bought 2 of these on a strong recommendation from an employee at HD, and had them installed by a plumber. They mostly seemed to work ok, although sometimes the flush was so fast it didn't carry everything with it. Also, if paper is not completely in the water it does not always go down. Otherwise they seemed ok until this morning, when after a flush I heard water dripping into a trash can that was underneath. It didn't take long to see a long crack in the tank where water was coming out. Now I will find out how good the warranty service is from AS.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tank cracked in less than a month. Bought an elongated bowl. Got home and base was cracked. Returned to HD. Employee switched out and mistakenly gave us a round bowl. Husband installed while I was not home. Looked at toilet and realized they had given us the wrong replacement. Spoke with HD management who refunded difference in price plus an additional $50. Less than a month later the tank is cracked from the handle all the way down the front of the tank, flooding the bathroom floor. Not happy American Standard.

I purchase this brand and toilet (qty =3) over other brands for one main reason. It is for "Stay Cleaner Longer". What a bad advertisement. My house has a high-end water softener and carbon filter at the inlet so there is no hard water for calcium deposits. However, within six months the ring around stains in the toilet bowl does not want to go away. I have this for fourteen months now and two started leaking internally wasting my water. What a bad product and false advertisement! Do NOT buy.

I decided on the American Standard Champion 4 after looking over the similarly priced Kohler and talking with the Home Depot representative. I would very much like to give a 5-star glowing review, but . . . Whereas the Champion 4 is well capable of flushing down a handful of golf balls, it does not do as well with solid human waste. As mentioned in other reviews you MUST hold down the handle to get a decent flush. Even so it may not be a 'clean flush' because the main thrust of water is not from the rim down, but from just below water level thrusting straight back. The half dozen gold balls are cleanly gone in a second, but solid waste is still left on the sides of the bowl at or near the normal waterline. In order to not have to repeatedly scrub the remains left behind, I must add a quart of water before sitting down. The flushing mechanism would work much better if the water remaining in the bottom of the bowl was larger. At first flushing the water in the bowl measures oblong about 6" by 7" (what I can the splash zone). Sometime later the splash zone is diminished down to the size of a large goose egg. Solid material hits the sides instead of the water - problem #1. The main force of the flushing water is less than an inch below waterline in the bowl thus far from efficient - problem #2. Does A.S. have a unit with a full sized splash zone (to reduce constant cleaning) and superlative flushing capabilities (capable of cleanly passing solid human waste)? Thank you in advance.

I bought and installed a Champion 4 Max toilet 7 months ago, it worked great--until a CRACK in the tank from the flush handle down the front appeared! WHAT's UP WITH A CRACKING TANK?????!!!!! It's not leaking yet, but there's no way we're keeping this toilet! The crack is visible by touch and feel on both the inside and outside of the tank. FYI this toilet was located in a bathroom with low to moderate usage. Based on quick google search other AMERICAN STANDARD toilet tanks crack. Lets hope the company's customer service and 10-year warranty are more solid than the tank I purchased.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid like the plague Purchased this toilet 3 years ago and it has been nothing but problems. Seems to be an issue with the mold it was made from. American Standard should know me by name since I have to call frequently for new gaskets/ parts/ etc... Again, I am getting a new toilet now, after only 3 years, because this one does not meet my standard, and should not meet American Standard's either. Main problem is water that leaks from tank into toilet and the seal has to be changed about every year. Toilet was professionally installed. I was just recommended by installer to purchase a different toilet by a different manufacturer by the installer. Only 3 years old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does the job well. I purchased this unit for it's flushing ability and have been very pleased. In the past I have clogged toilets from coast to coast. This one has never even given a sound or a sign of clogging when getting rid of a "job" in about a month. It looks good, sounds good and even seems to remove any residue. The chair height is perfect for me although my 2 yr. old grandson has a slight problem mounting it. All in all you can't go wrong with this product. Worth the extra few dollars it may cost you. It was also very easy to install if you have the ability to hold it while setting it in place. Yes I will buy another one for guest bathroom.
