Bought this to replace an old American Standard in our guest bathroom. Just installed today, many of the pieces are cheap, break easily. Already had to replace two pieces and the tank is wobbly even though the bolts were torqued down thoroughly. Lid and seat are made of cheap, thin plastic. Disappointed in my purchase. My Kohler Wellworth that I installed a little over a year ago is a much better product for far less money. I'd recommend going that route if you're buying something from Home Depot, or just sinking the extra money on a Drake or Toto from a plumbing supply store if it's in your budget.

We bought this toilet a year ago as part of the bathroom remodel. The advertisement made it look like a perfect choice. The problem is that you must hold the handle down to flush the toilet completely, even for urine. This leads to a problem with children and guests who don't know to hold the handle down.
They should use the "no slam" technology from the lid, on the handle, so the handle doesn't return to the closed position so fast, allowing the plunger to stay open longer.
The good news is that is has never clogged, the bad news is the bowl does not clean it self as advertised. It is a constant effort to keep it free of sold material that has stuck to the side of the bowl.
I would expect better from all the hype!

This was the second Champion Toilet I installed. I was hesitant last year because I had heard bad things about low flush toilets (having to flush multiple times, etc.). However after one year the toilet has been great - no problems at all. It is quick and quiet on the refill. The installation is truly half an hour tops. It is a great value.

Best install I've ever had as I had it installed for me. Worth the price.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DIYer1224 Replacement of Old Toilet
I finally made the decision to replace the toilet in the Master Bathroom. The old toilet was stained and prone to clogging. My wife and I researched several different toilets and talked to The Home Depot employee. We went with the Champion 4 Max because of the different features that it had (Toilet Height, Max flushing capability, and the ability to reduce stains and stay cleaner). I am an average DIYer and the tools were provided that I needed. It was a one person job !! I think it took me about one hour to replace the existing toilet.
I would highly recommend the product that absorbs the remaining water left in the toilet so that you can avoid spilling out that water when you remove the existing toilet.
We have been using the toilet since June 15 and have not had any problems and are really happy with the purchase.

This is no longer a water conserving toilet! Initially, this was a good product, but it was not as advertised with respect to cleaning the bowl with no residue. Now, about 18 months later, this toilet requires 2-5 flushes EVERY time it is used, including when only urine is being flushed. Also, it appears that the internal parts cannot be replaced. We are older and we can no longer move a toilet ourselves, so replacing the toilet becomes an even bigger problem and expense. We spent more on a toilet hoping it would last longer, but, obviously, spending more on this toilet was a complete waste of money!

Had this product professionally installed. In 3 hours it started to leak from a bolt between the tank and bowl. Plumber has returned 3 times and even removed the tank and re-set it. Still leaks after about 3 hours. Home Depot was not very supportive except to give me a new tank to bowl gasket which was not even the right one as they do not stock the proper replacement. Did not install it as it did not fit. Now use a can next to the toilet to catch the drips. Very disappointed with American Standard as this is poor quality and Home Depot for poor response to the issue.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kim American Standard Max 4 Toilet
The toilet flushes great! Low flow flushing is not a problem. Company is telling the truth about the low flow water system! (YAY!) Seat height is a tiny bit high. Also, while seat is flat, it feels more rounded than some and my toes don't fully touch the ground. (It is felt on the hips and back.) The slow closing seat cover is nice, but due to round edge of cover, it hits your back with a few extra inches of plastic, should you want or need to sit on the potty for any length of time. For me, the closing feature is nice, but not a necessity compared to the comfort overall.
