This is the fifth American Standard unit of the same design that we have installed - three at our previous home in Nevada, and now two in Missouri. The design provides a larger trapway than most other toilets - a 2 3/8" fully glazed trapway. With these units we have not experienced any clogging over the fifteen years that we have had them installed. The latest two units were proprietary units for the Home Depot market. We are quite pleased with them, and would recommend them to others. Although more expensive than many other toilets, we consider the extra cost a good trade-off.

Specifically, I really just don't like the look of it. Flushes well but sometimes leaves a bit behind! Also the top of the tank doesn't not fit well rocks a lot while cleaning. What bothers me the most though, is the plastic flushing handle. While I would overall recommend this product, Home Depot should display these items at a level where they can be clearly seen and touched, not 7 feet high. If I had seen this at eye level, I probably would have chosen another toilet.

The cost is high and will end up costing you LOTS more down the road. The valve seal leaked (a lot) within less than 1 year. My Champion 4 toilet runs and refills every 20 min. Removed the valve seal (looked clean as a whistle) and replaced it with a Home Depot Korky brand seal. Toilet leaked again within 30 min of installing the new Korky seal. American Standard will claim you need "their" seal as a replacement...well guess what...their seal leaked within a few months of a brand new installation...and now I am trying to get them to send me another replacement. Who knows how much lower my water bill would be. I have 20 yr old toilets in my home that work better. Nothing is made well, anymore, these days, but this toilet falls even below that "Standard"

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I hate it! One year old and my water bill just doubled. Started leaking around the tanks flush valve. Save yourself from headaches and buy a normal model, not the "Champion".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from we all like the Champion 4 MAX Bought two Champion 4 MAX in March 2014, it does what it promised, low water flush and flush efficiently. It was suggested by plumber and both were installed by a professional plumber as well. One works perfectly but the 2nd leaked. Registered with American Standards and submitted my complain regarding the flapper which the plumber advised me. Received the kits and replaced it myself and now it works fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from do not pay mire than $239 I bought two of these from HD on the same day. This one and the same model under a different sku for $239. They are the same but the less expensive one even comes with the $30 toilet seat included! I would return the expenfive one but i didnt have time and needed to install both.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Clogs twice a week and water runs all night We are two disabled seniors who needed toilets that do not clog. Instead we got two expensive toliets that clog anytime you have a movement bigger than a golf ball. I mean we sit on these "thrones" and try very hard to keep the size correct, but if any come out bigger than the advertised golf balls it is time to pump the clogs. Not easy for us to do physically. Also one of the toilets often has the chain inside catch in a way that causes the water to keep running unless I open the tank and fix it by hand. Poor quality! I could not return them because I had already removed the old toilets which had actually worked better than the Champion 4 Max's that I installed. We live in a community of over 18,000 Seniors who will hear about this waste of our small income. Perhaps we can save a few others from wasting their money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Contorl on Glazing If you buy this toilet, be sure to check all the glazing on the tank and bowl BEFORE starting the installation. My tank was not completely glazed on one side. Major pain to uninstall everything because the QC wasn't working at 0843 0n 03/11/2014, according to the manufacture date sticker
